Go somewhere else for custom framing! I wanted to frame a stretched canvas print,1.5" thick. When I was given frame options, no one told me the back of the 1.5" thick canvas frame would stick out behind the frame. When I saw it, it was an eyesore. The proposed "fix" was to "wrap" a shadow-box frame around the whole thing. The result was more money for a 2nd set of frames, and it looked like "Franken-frame". The frame shop supervisor (nice lady!) agreed to take it all apart & use just the shadow-box frame around the art. Basically, the 1st set of frames (non-shadow-box) should have never happened if I had been advised properly. I asked the store manager for a refund of the 1st set of frames; I was ok paying for the more expensive shadow box frames. The mgr (not customer-friendly) made me feel it was my problem for "changing my mind". On the contrary, I got bad advice twice: (1) no one told me the art would stick-out & (2) wrapping 1 frame around another looked bad. The store manager should have taken responsibility for his team; I should not have had to pay for the 1st set of frames that turned my art...
Read moreMichaels a is great place if you're into any sorts of baking, arts, and crafts. I used to go all the time back in high school and college to buy supplies for my art classes; painting, sketching, ceramics, photography, etc. I even used to buy their shirts which were pretty cheap to tie-dye.
Now all the rage is around cricut; they have an aisle with all the supplies you need. I even bought fake flowers and various of other items for my wedding (super budget/DIY wedding and I'm proud of it). I also buy yarn for knitting and supplies for embroidering. They have kids craft too which my toddler loves. They offer custom framing and helium balloons; their website allows for customization options.
When I went, I saw a room for where they offer classes; summer camp are offered and birthday parties can be hosted at the stores. There are 1,252 Michaels in the US and Canada. I think it's a great store for the artsy and crafty people; even if you're not artsy/crafty it's fun to look at. Don't forget to check their website...
Read moreThe older white haired cashier lady is always confused, doesn’t know what’s going on, and rude. I had to return a 100 count gel pen set because they didn’t work. She got all in a huff saying in front of me and my young daughter “well I hope they’re all really in here,…ugh why is it open now I have to tape it….i hope I’m even allowed to do this” She just stood there looking around dazed and confused. Not knowing how to do her job. I wanted to make a simple return and she had to make it as painful as possible. Then another couple came in line and she barked at them to use the self checkout and they said they had to do a return as well. She replied “OH,GREAT” This lady should retire and move on...
