Today was the worst experience I’ve ever had in a university hospital facility. I took my two young boys and myself into the urgent care around 9 AM. We had been sick all week, but my work schedule didn’t allow us to get into any of the facilities any earlier than this Saturday morning. Upon arrival I filled out the paperwork for the three of us and brought out my bank card to pay all three co-pays at $75 apiece. I swiped, my card and the tall skinny, dark curly haired girl behind the desk with glasses after processing our payments told me that I had A past due balance with university hospitals of $500. She then told me even though I had enough money to pay co-pays currently, that she would not be able to let me be seen unless I made a payment of at least $200 additionally to our co-pays towards this 500. I didn’t even know I had a balance. It would not be a problem to pay the entire balance had I had been able to talk to my husband to see which card he thought I should put that on or how we should go about paying it. But it was early in the morning and he was not with me. So I said well if you won’t see me, let’s go forward with at least seeing my children. The three of us are incredibly sick, so it was important to get them seen before it got severe. In the meantime, I was able to get a hold of my husband as we were in the exam room. My husband called up to the front desk and spoke to this woman that refused my care. He offered to Pay that past due balance so I could be seen this morning. The receptionist then told him he wouldn’t be able to do that because it’s against HIPAA. So my husband was actually calling up there to help me be seen because I was so sick and I had just got off the phone with him crying saying that they wouldn’t see me. Instead of putting my husband on hold and coming back and getting me this woman told my husband she wouldn’t even tell him if I was there or not. The level of pettiness was insane. The doctor came in and seen both of my boys. He could see I was crying and he said an how are YOU feeling? I let him know that because of a previous balance I was not allowed to be seen today. He said nothing and walked out of the room. He could see I was sick. It was plainly obvious as I sat there crying. As I was leaving with my boys out of the office after they had gotten their prescriptions written, the girls behind the desk, proceeded to tell me to have a good day as I walked out. Once I got to my car, I realized how absolutely heartbroken I was over the situation. I’m now going back home still incredibly sick with no medication. So I went back in and told them how awful I thought they were. How you don’t treat people like this in The medical field? How do you turn a woman away That’s standing there trying to pay at least the co-pays with her two young boys that’s incredibly ill? And then when the husband calls trying to help the situation, you don’t even allow the situation to have help. I didn’t threaten them. But I was mad and they knew It. About an hour and a half later after I’d been home I get a call from Avon police department. The skinny dark haired girl with glasses that was standing there, threatening to call the police on me, actually called the police once I was Long gone. They wanted the officer to tell me that I am now trespassed and I will be arrested if I ever come Back there. Well, done, university hospitals! As somebody that works in the medical field I know that tall, skinny, dark curly haired girl with glasses should never be in the Medical field! I was unaware that university hospitals hired cold, mean hearted, nasty people to handle they’re sick families! I was unaware that UH promotes MONEY OVER CARE!
A voicemail was left for university hospitals patient advocacy as well as a grievance will be filled with the hospital and insurance company.

Read moreThis form would not let me submit unless I gave at least 1 star but it is a zero start experience. Worst experience of gaslighting and insufficient care that I've ever experienced. Went into Avon UH Urgent Care after experiencing hand pain so bad it takes my breath away. Told by the rad tech that COVID vaccine, which I received a booster for yesterday, makes people sick and is the problem with mental health today. She advised she'd never get it again. When I asked why, she said she'd seen people come in unable to walk on their own. I asked how that linked back to the COVID vaccine and didn't get a straight SCIENCE OR FACT BASED answer. I didn't push or argue but kept my thoughts to myself because any argument I made wasn't going to help me or her.
Next I met with the doctor. Outside of hand related questions the only question the doctor asked me was if I have diabetes. I don't. Nor does my chart or the intake done say I do. The hand pain I was having was clearly not bone related but an X-ray was ordered anyway. I've been through this before and knew it's where we start to rule it out. START....where we start. However, it's where we ended.
Despite having a self-fashioned winter glove with a marker in the ring finger to immobilize my hand, I was told that's all they could do for me. I was told by the doctor to talk to my PT therapist at my Tuesday appt. My PT which is currently for hip and thigh pain. Pretty sure that's not how doctor ordered PT works. I was told to talk to my ortho doctor which I don't have. I was then given a magnet with a number to call a walk in ortho clinic. I questioned how I was going to function with a hand I cannot use without breathtaking pain and asked if my self-fashioned glove with a marker in the finger was the best we could do. I...
Read moreTook my mother here since she is now living in a memory care assisted living facility in the area and she has been established with a UH primary care doctor in the area so I assumed with the new Epic software they would have everything in their records but they had to ask all the meds my mother was on again even though they have all of that info in their database. I brought her here because she was at UH wound care the day before where she is being treated for wounds on her legs and they noticed what looked like an infected toe but they could not treat it because they only do open wounds and they don't anything with toes and that has to be a podiatrist. So the doctor at the urgent care, who was very rude, Dr. Loos, said he could only treat the infection and couldn't do anything with her toenail either and that had to be a podiatrist but it specifically says on the UH Avon Urgent Care website that fingernail/toenail injury is one of the services they provide. Also asked for a test for a UTI for my mother and he told me I would have to go to an ER for that. One of the treatments he had for her toe was to soak it but with the wound care bandages on her legs, the wound care says she can't get her feet or legs wet while those bandages are on and they stay on all the time. I explained this to him and he said well, that is the treatment and it was for me to figure out how it was going to be done. Will never...
