Only two registerās open. A young guy at end of registers near the doors and older woman directly in front of me. The young cashier he was wearing a Gabeās uniform, the woman in front of me not in uniform, no name tag or anything that identified her as the store manager. Thatās convenient when you donāt want to be identified when you mistreat certain customerās. I thought she was a customer. I waited a minute and tried to engage with her āgood evening, how are you Mam?ā, she never looked up but after a long pause said āFINE!ā, then rolled her eyes and stood there. I continued waiting. I thought the young cashier would be finishing up and Iād just check out with him but that didn't happen. He had problems with a return. A customer returned to the older woman in front of me and the two of them started laughing and talking. I thought the kid would end up checking me out because the older woman and customer were very engaged in idle chitchat.
When she finally finished the older woman (who IS a Gabeās store manager), finally finished up with her customer but then she walked away from her register to the young cashier struggling with his return. She never acknowledge me, she never said Iāll be with you in a moment, thank you for your patience, clearly they both had issues of some kind. At this point, Iām beyond stunned. Finally, another young cashier in uniform popped around the checkout area and immediately asked if I had been helped. I said Iām not sure but then said no, Iāve been waiting for someone to check me out. She called out to older woman who said āyou check her outā, referring to me. The young blonde girl told me to step down to her register. So, I didā¦4 items scannedā¦I paid in cash, picked up my bag but asked the young cashier if I could have that ladies name down by the young cashier doing a return. My cashier asked why do you want to know her name, I said because Iām filing a formal complaint with Gabeās over the cashier. Why? I said because she purposefully ignored me, wouldn't treat me with respect and then just abandoned her register never saying one word to me. The young blonde girl refused to give me the womanās name stating that was her manager. I asked why she wouldn't give me her name and she said because sheās my manager. Stunned!! I replied āso, none of you are willing to respect me as a customer!ā āFineā¦Iāll contact Corporate Gabeās.ā I left. This woman has done this to me several times beforeā¦this is my local Gabeās. I gave her benefit of doubt all of the times before but clearly she doesn't want me there, sheās showed me that multiple times by ignoring my presence at her check out line like she doesn't want to wait on me. I don't know if the young female cashier was terrified of retribution or if she was being obstructive by not giving me the managerās name. Corporate can figure it all out while they lose customers. This store has shutter written all over it. Iāve shopped at Gabeās for almost 30 years. Iāve always appreciated the cleanliness of their store, the organization of merchandise, the outstanding and kindly customer service. You cannot staff your store with managerās who clearly have some nasty disposition and disdain for customerās like me and will not even wait on them. Now, where do I shop?? I know so many people whoāve left the shopping area Market Place at Four Corners because of the hostile climate of Gabeās and Walmart employees alone. This shopping area will end up looking like the shuttered shopping areas off of Rockside Rd in Bedford and off of 480 near Garfield Heights and it wont be long before it happens. This is like a cancer spreading over our region and Iām seeing it more overtly than ever before! We customerās matterā¦we work hard for our income, we shop, we spend money! Just NOT at Gabeās anymore for me! Iāve already quit going to Walmart in the plaza. You cannot stay in business this way! It just wonāt work. The first thing to go in blighted areas is retail and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGreat Gabes great selection!!! I should be giving you 5 stars but because you failed in one area I will not. Your ailes are not kept clear to code. When your using a handicap scooter. There isn't sufficient space to operate the vehicle. Several times I became trapped with no way out of the aisle except for backing up down the entire narrow aisle. Please make sure your aisle leave enough room for scooters and wheelchairs when building your displays etc. Nothing says your not welcome when no one cares about. Gabes you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI grew up going to a different Gabe's. I remember the experience being unorganized, haphazard, random, and filled with odd prints, different sleeve lengths, ink splotches, broken zippers ... AND I LOVED IT. This was more like a Marshall's or TJ Maxx.
Give me weird, quirky, odds & ends, little to no organization style Gabe's any day of week.
I would like to add that the staff, both hanging items and at the register, were absolutely lovely and should be commended for their customer service and...
