Forget about going the extra mile, they went the extra millimeter. Let me explain. My screen on my son's Galaxy S5 recently cracked all on its own. Go figure. Everything worked fine but the screen was a mess. I knew that it was only a matter of time before the cracked screen led to an unresponsive screen. It needed to be fixed.

I went back and forth about purchasing the parts and repairing it myself since the screens tend to be pricey and I generally get by as a do-it-yourselfer. After checking my options, I found that CDC could replace the screen while I waited for not a whole lot more than the parts would cost themselves so I decided to give myself a break and leave the repair to the expert.

I dropped the phone off and proceeded to run some errands. When I came back, John, the technician, informed me that the only replacement black screen he had appeared to be defective but that he had several white screens. I didn't really want to make another trip to Frederick so I agreed to having the white screen installed. A very short time later, we learned that the screen was not the problem since the next two screen he tried were also defective. John knew that the phone had worked when I dropped it off so he had to solve the riddle of why the phone no longer worked. He put the circuit board under a microscope where he discovered that there was a very very small manufacturing defect in the phone that caused any new screen to not work correctly.

He tried one repair that worked for a few seconds and then failed. He refused to be deterred and decided that the only way to make it work would be to perform a very tiny bypass surgery on the phone. With my blessing, he soldered an extremely thin, short wire into the circuit to act as a jumper over the defective portion of the board. The only way to see the repair is with a microscope. Amazing.

During the whole time I was there (a little over an hour), I observed John helping other clients with their phones. He was courteous and honest. He told one customer that, yes, he could fix her phone but it would probably be cheaper for her to replace it even though it was apparent that doing so would cost him business. Highly recommended. I came to John with a cracked iPhone 7 screen. He needed a few days to order the parts, but once he got them in he performed same-day service on my phone. Once the repair was done, he thoroughly tested the phone's basic functions in front of me. There was an issue with the proximity sensor after assembly, so he promptly removed the screen and fixed it on the spot. John clearly takes a lot of pride in his work. He's extremely knowledgeable and knows these phones inside and out. He's something of a mad scientist when working on them! Prices are extremely reasonable (less than what Apple charges at the moment) and you’d be hard-pressed to find better workmanship and attention to detail. I think most third-party repair shops would likely skimp on the finer details and give you back a phone that doesn’t quite work the same as when you first brought it in. I'd add more stars if I could! I first took an old iPhone 4S to CDC Cellular Repair - a phone that had definitely seen better days: Front was shattered, back was shattered, battery was weak... John restored to phone to practically brand new! I must say, there was a bit of sticker shock when I went to pay for it though... All that he did for SUCH a reasonable price!!!
