My husband and I went out to the Frederick MD Longhorn 7/12. We wanted to support a business and the website listed all of the precautions they were taking to promote sanitizing and social distancing, so we thought we would give it a try. I will say first off, that social distancing and masks were prevalent and the food was fantastic. However, the service was quite lacking. I mention all this as someone who has held several years worth of restaurant service experience, and because of that, I am more patient then most; I know what it’s like to be double or triple sat; and how your head can spin trying to get everyone taken care of efficiently. So the slow arrival of “welcome” bread and drinks were forgivable. And; play devil’s advocate here; perhaps the server is still getting used to serving in a mask; but that is why a verbal response is important. When our server checked on us; she would ask a question, we would respond, but she would give no indication that she cared what our response was. Ex. Would you like any sauce?” Us: No,this is fine, thank you.” Server walks away without saying anything. In addition, I realize that with reduced seating, servers can only make money if they turn tables as fast as possible, but our food had only come out 10 minutes before when our server was there, not asking how everything was or if we needed anything; but if we were ready to order desert. It was just really pushy and made for an uncomfortable experience. Lastly, in regards to the heightened “sanitizing” process; After a booth across the room left, a young man came over to that table, sat In the booth, and squirted what I assume was the disinfectant, and wiped it down with two paper napkins (which is fine, don’t want to reuse anything) but only wipe the top surface of the table, not the edges or the side panels; or (unless this young man’s posterior holds some sort of magical sanitizing process) did not wipe down the seats in the booth. After a cursory few wipes with the paper napkins, he went to retrieve a laminate sign that read THIS TABLE HAS BEEN SANITIZED. Umm, not really. Going to have to do better than...
Read moreWas clean, our food was good, our service was not. Our waitress seemed to be more worried about cleaning up than waiting on us. I'm a bartender so I get it but we were there 2 hours before closing so plenty of time. I had asked about a cocktail list I was directed to the 1st page that had 4 "crafted cocktails" she never came back to ask me if I wanted one. So i just drank water. They ended up being out of shrimp which no big stuff happens, again I work in the restaurant industry I'm VERY understanding. Then about halfway through our meal she brought us our check "for convenience". We had brought our daughter out ( she's about to turn 8) and was planning on dessert but we felt rushed out, so loss of sale on alcohol and food at this point. Finally I just got a box for my food and asked for a 2nd one for my daughters food. At that point she asked to take the dirty plates in the middle of the table and proceeded to drop 2 steak knives on me!... she said "whoops i shoulda just grabbed them first", then grabbed the dirty plates AND my daughters food and walked away. Came back with an empty box and handed it to us. We were like well you took her food that we requested a box for so how can we box it up? She said oh shoot and walked away and that's the last we heard from her, she was back behind the bar cleaning up as we walked out. I get people have days, I've had them myself, but this was just really bad. I would have been SO apologetic had i not only thrown food away a little girl asked to take home but also dropped 2 sharp knives on my customer but she was not at all! We felt rushed and pushed towards the door the entire time we were there. We got in our car at 9:04 they don't even close til 10. Very very...

First, we made the reservation at 5:37 pm. We arrived at the restaurant at 6:00 pm.
My party of seven adults was not seated until 7:40 pm. We ordered our food. Only to be told moments later, they were out of the steaks, we ordered. That happen to be the best steaks on the menu! Sadly enough, our food did not arrive until 8:15 pm.
My family consist of a Black Surgeon, who happens to be chief of surgery at a hospital. My wife is one of the few Black women who is the VP of a fortune 500 company. My nephew who graduated from Princeton, my niece who works for the largest defense contractor in the country, my nephew who graduated from UVA and works for FEMA. Everyone at our table had an advanced degree.
We counted seven families of six who were served and seated before my family. Sadly, four of the families arrived after my family. In addition, three tables that arrived after us were served food before my family.
More importantly, we ordered $200 worth of food. We left a $40 tip. We purchased an additional $150 worth of drinks while we waited two hours to be seated and tipped another $40.
Therefore, we spent about $300! We received $3 service from your management team.
Sadly, we I began to complain at 7:30, they rudely asked if we wanted a manager. We declined, the message from your team was already implied by their actions.
We came to the area to visit my nephew who is in graduate school at Hood College!
Finally, two women who we moved for and made room for at the bar thanked us. They even apologized for the service we received.
Finally, my unassuming, and respectful Black family was left asking ourselves questions about the...
