Grade: F
Details As of December 6, this place seems to close at 5:00 PM. Way too inconvenient to customers, especially those who want to come in past 5. Store used to be open 24/7. Store size way too small. Only one aisle containing chips, candy, water, gasoline, baked goods, etc. pushing other items to the built in aisle on the other side of the store where they can easily be miscategorized. Other Big Apple stores have several shelves. Slushie machine inside store. However, it is located at the entry to the cashier's desk, which isn't a good place at all. Not to mention, the placement of said machine is prone to causing blockages. No restroom facility; don't expect to find one in this building. There is a hallway between the coolers and a desk. This can trick people into thinking there is a public restroom facility. Instead, they go out back into the employee's area including the office and the entrance to behind the coolers. An annoying screech is heard whenever the entry door and the cooler doors are open. Placed in a convenient location on the southern side of the Tree Streets neighborhood.
Follow up: Big Apple location on State Street has lost us as customers. Location will be reported to the CN Brown Company if...
Read moreTHREATENED TO CALL THE COPS
Most disrespectful staff I have ever seen, I have never been treated so rudely in my life, it's no wonder they are never any people here. She actually threatened to call the cops one me for asking if the had a restroom!!! The employee was outside smoking when I arrived at a fair time 8:00, and I don't look like a druggie or a criminal at all, in fact I pulled up in a red convertible, what crook can afford a red convertible? I went in and no one was there, the woman outside did not have a uniform or anything, looked very unprofessional, in her late 40's so I assumed she wasn't and waited till someone walked in, it was the woman from outside, she asked "What do you want" I asked if they had a restroom, she replied "No, but you can go outside where you came from! I'm freaking calling the cops!" So of course I left. I was only 16. I did not want to write this review til now because at the time I felt sorry for the owner, and that they barely get any costomers as it is, but now I just want to let everyone know how bad this place actually is. Even if you can't afford a good location (or a restroom) you can always afford good employees, I really hope that wasn't the owner. They made me...
Read moreEmployees and management are great, usually very quick about getting you out the door with your purchases and doing everything they can to solve any issues presented to them.
A majority of the customer base is pretty scummy, not uncommon to get belligerent, smelly, and otherwise unpleasant people shopping alongside you at any time of day, with the occasional beggar hassling you as you leave. (Which the employees are usually quick to fix)
If you can get over the "customers" who make this place their "hang-out" it's a simple and pleasant in-out experience.
A couple valuable side notes:
Avoid 6am, 2pm, and 10pm if you're in a rush, these are the shift change times, which take about 10-15 mins depending on how many customer interruptions there are.
Expect to be glared at or refused if you attempt to make change for a $50 or a $100 bill, their registers don't typically have much more than $100 in them at all times as a safety precaution (same with most gas stations and convenience stores) and larger bills will typically mess up their drawer entirely, causing hold-ups and inconveniencing the employee and your...
