I can't begin to tell you what a Patriot and what a genuinely good human Paul the owner of Maritime International is and what he did for our family. You see, my father's medals were lost when one of the American Legion post was closed down in northern Maine where his medals where on display. Paul recovered my dads medals through a sale including the distinguished service cross, silver star, bronze star, air medal and purple heart along with his legion of valor certification. Not knowing any relatives held and protected these medals for decades. By chance from one friend to another and act of God working anonymously and timing the medals were recently and graciously returned to me by Paul in person. I was met there with some of my dad's friends and Paul, who told us the story, a story that my family had believed the medals to be lost and gone forever... What a true blessing to have my dad's medals back and for Paul having protected them for all those years, and then returning them to us was nothing short of a miracle. Thank you so much for what you did for my father, a war hero, Thomas Bouchard 1/8 Cav Vietnam. Now, in our family, we know two heros in Maine......
Read moreI stopped in today to have an appraisal done on a coin collection I inherited, the young man, not sure of his name seemed to be clueless about what he was doing, if you work there you'd think you'd know what to do, also after my appraisal was done for over 8 ozs of silver coins. I was quoted 286.54... I closed my box and left. I won't tolerate this kind of act and I'm sorry for the folks that get stiffed by bussiness folks like this.. I get you need to make money but don't low ball my stuff so you can profit everything.. a morgan vf+ I was offered $22 dollars for. When they sell for over $250-275 the amount I was quoted for the entire lot for one coin.. also a double dyed error coin ect.. I'll look elsewhere to seek a proper appraisal.. also if your doing an appraisal have everything in front of you.. and let one person do the job.. instead of screening the coins so that way the count gets messed up.. bussiness folks for years don't matter.. treat your customers with some more...

Selection is rather small, and there is a lack of high-ticket items displayed. Next time I visit, I will ask if they keep those better items out back or locked up elsewhere.
Two young men were working the shop. Neither seemed especially knowledgeable - but were willing to try to look things up using reference books and the internet, which was greatly appreciated. Prices were a little high, and they didn't give me much room to negotiate.
I left empty handed, but a casual coin collector will definitely get a lot of value out of this place.
Higher end, big ticket buyers, and resellers may not be fruitful in their efforts here. However, I definitely recommend checking it out for common and uncommon coins, as well as interesting books, Maine paraphernalia and political...
