I wanted to post about a terrible experience I had at Shipwreck Collection at the Huntington mall. While shopping in the store with my daughter, my wedding band fell off of my finger. We were both crawling around on the floor looking for the ring and looking through some of the folded shirts. I was not sure if the ring fell on the ground or flung in the air while I was browsing the folded shirts. The staff continued to watch me and my daughter for 30 minutes without helping what so ever. When one of the staff members finally approached me, I told her that I had lost my ring and could not find it. She went and found the owner of the store. When the owner came out from the back of the store, the first thing she said to me was âyou are destroying our property.â I had simply moved shirts around looking for my ring. She stated that she would âcall her cousin who is a police officer on me and have me arrested.â She also stated that I was âyelling at my daughterâ which was not true as my daughter was looking at her in complete confusion. The only thing she did was refold the already folded shirts and called security to have me leave. My $2,000 ring is still sitting somewhere in that store, and I am sure if it is found that it will be taken and not returned to me. It was the most unprofessional, terrible experience that I have ever received from anyone. I was in complete shock that someone would treat another person like that for no reason what so ever. She called me a liar and said that she would laugh at me when I find the ring somewhere else. (Even though I told her that I felt the ring slip off of my finger right where I was standing) I hope that she has the kind of day that she truly deserves, and enjoys my $2,000 ring that she refused to let me search for. I will NEVER go back to that store and they will NEVER receive another...
Read moreI was relatively new to the mall, not being familiar with the lay-out or store locations. I entered through Macy;s into the mall itself. I walked almost to an exit door in three different directions (quite a bit of walking, but could not locate a Mall Directory (the ones that EVERY mall in the U.S. has conveniently located everywhere!) Not ONE was to be seen. I called the Mall office and spoke to a young lady in "Customer Relations," (or what I suppose was to pass as customer service.) I was told that yes, they are very aware there are no directories conveniently located anywhere for customers, but "maps" are located everywhere. Not True! Not one was to be seen until a kind cleaning lady gave me and said she carried some with her because there were never any around, and customers were always asking her for one! The young lady in "CR" went on to say that the directory is located in the Center Court. "Ma'am, if I am new to the Mall, did not have my aerial map of the Mall with me, and no directions inside to point me in that direction, just how am I supposed to find the Center? Further, how would I even know that is where the Directory is located? "You could check one of the maps conveniently located around the Mall." Having experienced one of the most asinine examples of circular logic I've encountered in quite a while, I knew "Customer Relations" was a complete dead-end. So, if you are going, do NOT count on any assistance from the Mall, nor think it is the least bit "customer friendly," or you too will get lost going...
Read moreSad that the mall is so empty. Loved it several years ago when you could make an entire day of going to the mall! Jcpenney, Sears, Macy's, and Elder-Beerman (old Stone&Thomas) were browsable for hours! Then all of the fun stores in the middle. This visit was only to Penney's. It was not crowded at all. Sephora still looks top- notch! Had to pick up a diamond ring I had refinished and it looks gorgeous! I also purchased two spring plus-size dresses for a very casual small wedding. They didn't have a very big selection AT ALL. In fact these were cute "church dresses" not "r e a l l y" casual mother of the groom dresses, but they're pretty enough to do the job! There was a tiny collection of proper mother's dresses in the misses section, but nothing upstairs in plus size. I'd rather try these on at home and return (no fitting rooms open atm) than order over & over online at the big "smile box" mail order place named after a large river.
I kept this one, (Marked down from $69 to $39) but the other GORGEOUS yellow lace dress that I really wanted just fit too strangely. Do note that apparently in-store women's plus size only goes to 22. In all the misses and women's PS, that's the largest size I saw. There may be more extended sizes on the JCP website, I don't know. Happy Shopping and help keep Barboursville Mall alive...
