I took my ELDERLY, DISABLED MOTHER to RUBY TUESDAY BARBOURSVILLE WV location on 9/23/22 around 1:45pm AFTER THE LUNCH RUSH hoping that it wouldn’t be busy. Well it wasn’t as no one was waiting outside, no line and NO GREETER with only a handful of customers in a MOSTLY EMPTY RESTAURANT. Well we waited and NO ONE greeted us so my ELDERLY, DISABLED MOTHER who uses a walker and all of her strength to get there needed to sit down. So we figured that an almost empty restaurant with MANY EMPTY BOOTHS that we seat ourselves at that DEAD TIME and had her sit down. I thought I’d let someone know we were there.
Finally one of the waitresses came out and said there’s a wait and I’m perplexed as to “why’s that?” Since the restaurant was mostly EMPTY. I said ok we’ll wait. Then she said we’d have to wait outside. I told her that mom is on a walker and has a hard time moving around so couldn’t we just wait at one of the MANY EMPTY BOOTHS.
Then the LOUD, RUDE, HATEFUL and “SASSY” MANAGER MARK OSBORNE came out YELLING and BERATING my ELDERLY, DISABLED MOTHER for just sitting there!!! Speaking very loud, HUMILIATING her yelling that COVID made everyone short staffed. Well that’s not our fault. We said that if things took longer in the kitchen it would be fine for us to wait and NOT RUSHING ANYONE...or just eat salad since they wouldn’t have to really do anything.
That wasn’t good enough for this POS manager and said we’d have to wait outside for 35 minutes...essentially needlessly being booted out of an EMPTY RESTAURANT to wait out front for 35 minutes??? That makes no sense and “he” was getting in her face and kicking us out (for 35 minutes) and being impatient because she really couldn’t move at that time once she sat down because she’s ELDERLY, DISABLED and ON A WALKER. He made NO ACCOMMODATIONS for an ELDERLY, DISABLED LADY ON A WALKER!!!
IF they had actually DONE THEIR JOBS and GREETED us and told us BEFORE we thought we could sit down at ONE OF THE MANY EMPTY BOOTHS in an almost EMPTY RESTAURANT about their HOSTILE and IDIOTIC way of doing business then we would have just said FORGET IT. I’ve never seen anything like this. It was so bizarre and uncalled for.
I picked that time thinking that it wouldn’t be busy AND IT WAS NOT. We didn’t come up to hang out at the mall but to eat at that place. I regret that I talked her to into going there as it was PHYSICALLY and EMOTIONALLY PAINFUL for her and RIDICULOUS!!! We left.
She cried later and said “Nobody cares for the elderly and disabled and treats them like trash.”
At that point I regretted being amenable about the whole situation as most other people would have thrown a fit at that odd, perplexing, horrible,...
Read moreWe went on 8/29 at 7pm est. I have been to quite a few different Rubys so pretty much know what to expect. This one fell far short in a few areas. The salad bar did not have mushrooms and boiled eggs, thats a staple for their salad bars. The quesadilla also has a side of salsa, they did not. Not being too technical but a quesadilla should have a decent amount of cheese, maybe 40%, they had 15% cheese and piled with steak. Now the service. The waiter was also the bartender, which I did not realize because we could not see the bar from our angle, they never asked us if we wanted to sit in the bar, so I did not request to. Though the server did not technically say anything in his dialogue out of line, his non verbal communication was poor for a server. When I asked him if they have salsa he said, no we do not. However it was his tone, which sounded irritated and stern. This made me irritated because its a quesadilla for crying out loud! I asked if they had tapatio, he said they tabasco, I asked if they had Chalula, again repeated Tabasco, didnt say anything incorrect but the tone, the irritation was obvious, which made me more irritated. After that, everything he was required to do was late to need, from the refill, to asking if we wanted the check, to bringing the check, to coming back to pay out. Then we had to use the portable machine and he had to instruct me through 5 different steps to process it. I shouldnt have to do this, a server should do it and then we fill out the rest. 90% of restaurants do this. I really wanted to leave a tip less then 20% but he was hovering over me and was afraid he would say something in his tone that would set me off so I just tipped 20%. Again his tone was stern in giving me instructions. I observed him conversing with a table 20 feet from ours and his personality was friendly and conversational, with us robotic and poor non verbal communication. And it wasn't like he was busy, I overheard him tell someone if had been dead the last few days. He purposely chose to serve us on his time after the salsa incident. We come to Harpers Ferry four times a year but will never come back to this...
Read moreDon't waste your time going here. Two hours of my life gone on food that wasn't worth the wait or the price. We were told there would be a wait of 15-20 minutes before we could be seated. We said that was fine. Almost an hour later we called to ask how much longer on our wait, they told us it shouldn't be long, maybe 10 minutes. Not even five minutes passed before they called us back asking if we still wanted the table. Umm..yes please! I'm thinking someone missed us to be seated. So we got seated, I noticed the table behind us had plates of food where only a Bite or two was missing. I wondered why they hadn't even bothered to take it home. Abyways, we put in a order for an appetizer because by now we were starving. We ordered our food at the same time. The app came out and it was hot and delicious. It was the best part of the whole meal, as it was the only part that came out fast and hot. It was quite a while later, salads had been chomped down, the app had long been demolished, now we were waiting on our main course. And boy did we wait...and wait...and wait some more. The waitress dropped by and said our food was almost done. 10 to 15 minutes later is when our food actually came out. I was so excited to eat by that time. I dug in..to a cold bowl of Mac and cheese. The plate was hot like it had been sitting under a heat lamp but it sure did fail to keep my food hot. Some parts were room temp and others were pretty cold. It was just not good. Her brisket was all fat and also all cold. Baked beans tasted like they had been microwaved from a can. I can't wait to get my food home so I can reheat it and try it hot! However, I will not come back. We were forgotten twice and the food was subpar. Now I know why there were three plates full of food behind us. (Included is a photo of the parm Mac and...
