i LOVE books a million. don’t get me wrong, it’s a great place to shop for not just books but also novelties, funko pops, vinyls, etc. I love the atmosphere and the whole vibe there. there is one specific cashier i cannot stand and he’s there every single time i go. Skip, the cashier, ruins my entire experience in the store. I feel he needs to be fired. Let me explain, each and every time i go, i want to purchase something. I do NOT want a books a million subscription, if i did, i would ask. I do NOT want a magazine subscription, again i would ask if i did! Skip is very VERY pushy. This specific cashier loves to push your buttons and try to scam you in every way possible. After saying “No thank you” multiple times he may give up, but then try to get you to buy something else. I would just like to go in and pay for my books then leave. I am tired of standing at the cash register for 5-10 mins while this guy tries to convince me to sign up for multiple things. There were kids in front of me in line and he asked them “Do your parents have a subscription? Do you think they would want one?” Like ??? what ???? I’m done with this place. I’ll just travel...
Read moreStopped in for last minute gift yesterday - attempted to find the book my self and was unsuccessful therefore asked the lady at the register for help. She proceeded to tell me they have one copy along the “first chapters wall” did not attempt to help me find the book and did not explain how the books were organized (I was the only one at the register and there was no line). She had an EarPod in her ear and appeared to more interested in what she was listening to than helping customers. After 15m of failing to find the book on my own I ended up asking another employee on the floor who was very helpful and the book was ultimately not in the store. I purchased some other books and the same girl checked me out and when I asked for a bag she replied “the only bags we have are ones you have to pay for” which I was fine w but she had so much attitude. During the conclusion of our interaction (after having to bag my own books bc she just sat the bag on top of them) I said “have a great day” and she completely ignored me. Not sure what her name is but she’s a blond girl who was working 12/28. She should really learn customer service skills or find...
Read moreI’m not big on chain bookstores, but this is definitely the best BAM I’ve ever been to. It has a large selection of pretty much every genre you could want — fantasy, romance, horror (no splatter, sadly), spirituality, music, children’s books, classics, journals. I really enjoy their selection of regional literature and folklore too!
It’s perpetually clean and well-organized for such a big store, and the coffee shop is pretty good (apart from the big menu being outdated, anyway).
But the real highlight is the customer service. The employees here are super kind, knowledgeable, and fun to talk to. They let you know about subscriptions and memberships, which has helped me save money during my holiday shopping. Skip, in particular, is an absolute delight. Sometimes I’ll stop by in the hopes of chatting with him for a few, and he’s the main reason I’ve found some of my favourite things in the store. He’s kind, personable, so upbeat, and obviously loves his job. It wouldn’t be the same...
