I really hate to do this but there is no such thing as customer service anymore. My wife and I frequent this store for one thing only, Target unscented Cat litter which we usually buy two containers at a time. This product is located at the very back isle and can be very heavy to carry around the store, so, we always grab a shopping cart to get them back to the registers located at the front of the store. On this trip to the store, we were unable to locate an available shopping cart, yes, the store was busy however not everyone was using a shopping cart. As I looked around the store for an available cart, I observed several shopping carts located at the front of the store near the always closed Star-Bucks Coffee Shope, these carts were filled with merchandise that looked as though it was just thrown into the carts temporarily, however, this meant that they were unavailable for use by customers for sure. Once we found a free shopping cart we loaded our cat litter and headed to the front of the store to pay for it, and that is when the fun began. We arrived to find several lines of people attempting to check out, unfortunately there we only two registers open with human cashers. The self-check-out was also open with what looked like four registers operating, however the line to checkout was so long that customers were unable to determine which line was for the self and which was for an actual cashier. We entered what appeared to be the closest line to us when a customer, already in line, indicated to us by pointing that the end of line actually began behind him around the corner of a large clothing wrack. We reluctantly entered that line and quickly observed several other lines forming around the front of the store. At this point an employee decided that this would be a great time to stock a hanging merchandise display in front of the registers this caused her to be in the way of the already crowded area leading to the registers, "not good". At one point I observed that the clerk at register two did not have a customer and was available to assist other customers however that clerk did not hail or notify anyone that she was available to for assistance checking out, so, people just stood there, mainly because the clerk filling the display blocked our view of register two and no one realized it was open. At this point i let my place in line and went to ask the clerk to please move so that customers in line could get to the available register, she looked at me with bewilderment, I then notified the next customer in line that register two was available and they proceeded to check out and the line began to move forward. At this point I felt like I was an employee directing customers, I then asked the clerk still attempting to fill the display why I was doing her job? A she did not answer and walked away talking on her portable radio, I thought she was calling a manager, at least I hoped she was but no she came back and took over one of the registers and began to ring up other customers, amazing! Bottom line is that there was absolutely no management or supervisor overseeing the store from what we could see. To make matters worse the store is picked over with shelves that are half empty and very dirty area outside the store, cigarette butts, wrappers, trash, empty cups, etc. Very disappointing to find that customer service is out the window these days. Ā Ā Ā Read moreHere on the cape, we don't have that many options when it comes to big box stores and all the essentials at relatively affordable prices- and the Target in Cape Cod Mall in Hyannis fills that great void. I moved here from the busy city of Phoenix, AZ, where my nearest Target was right across the street. This one locally is nearly an hour drive and is worth it in every way for me.
Unfortunately not every Target in this nation is alike when it comes to personnel and management, The corruption within, especially with the AWFUL removal of DEI to appease more right winged individuals, investors and top ranking officials of the company, makes me hate going here to some degree despite many years of loyalty, but there's one reason I can live with it.
It's the people at this store. They are kind, friendly, all different and differently abled, so the management team are doing SOMETHING RIGHT at this location. I shouldn't have to explain why this is necessary- but it does build community we so desperately need, gives people of all shapes colors and sizes a chance which is becoming more unheard of with each day sadly, and it just really gives me genuine happiness that I see people enjoying their job, and that it could be anyone. That's true hope right there.
Every single store associate reciprocated the kindness I showed them when I was asking for help looking for things, and then some. One directed me to what I needed and we both had a good joke about it on the way there, and then the cashier at the Starbucks within was super sweet to me today.
There was also another cashier whom I hope is well and I wish them the best- they put a smile on my face many days I was feeling down. I haven't seen them in awhile but maybe I might soon. They gave me a lot of strength in my own journey that is often filled with lonliness.
This Target store ABSOLUTELY DESERVES your business. I can't say the same about the others, but THIS ONE right here is special and what we...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have shopped in many Target stores in Mass. so of course I could hardly wait for this one in Hyannis to open! Unfortunately, I and as were many of the people I spoke with was very disappointed with this store!!!!! #1 why ever did you include the food section when there is a Shaws and a Stop'n Shop within walking distance, and the prices of just about all the foods are more expensive in this Target! #2 why put a liquor store in when the Cape has TOO many liquor stores already and at least 2 are near to the CC Mall! #3 considering that (understandably) this store is smaller then the "usual" Targets wouldn't it have made MORE sense to NOT have the grocery and liquor section so as to either devote more space to some other sections or even to insert a section found it your other stores? #4 there is NOTHING different , or even new, to be found in this Target than can be found in any other store on the Cape and the majority of the prices on most items are the same and even more than in competing stores!!!! Example--I was looking to buy the new compact size of the Keurig coffee maker. your price $89.!!!!!!! Walmart's $69. Bj's $79 and Amazon's $49.!!!!!! #5 most of the aisles are so narrow two carts CAN pass each other but with ONLY a 2-3 inch space in between!!!! #6. and finally....when you are considering putting a store in a new area do you ever survey the "locals" to see what THEY would like to see in the new store???? I doubt that I shall be doing much shopping in this Hyannis store and not sure about the other Targets!!! I do understand that the rental prices for businesses in the Mall are so outrageous that many popular stores have left due to the rental cost but......if this Target offered MORE of what people on Cape Cod needed and wanted you would draw so many more customers, which would boost...
