Great gym. Very clean and modern. This place definitely defines what a professional gym should look like, every time I walk in I always feel a good vibe and I’m excited to get a good workout in. My only problem is that one of the staff members were extremely rude to me for one mistake I made. I had forgotten to rack up the weight plates so the next day I received a call at 7am in the morning and got a voicemail from a staff member who had quite an aggressive tone towards me and demanded to know when I am coming back to the gym so that I can put their weight plates back where they belong. I understand the policy and I work as a customer service representative so I totally understand the frustration but that is no way to talk to someone who pays you every month for YOUR services. I’ve always maintained a good attitude in the gym I’ve paid every month and I’ve never been a problem to anyone in there to receive such bad attitude. If I were to talk to a loyal customer like that at HEB for one error they did you can bet everything on your life I’d be fired. It was very disrespectful and I know for sure that one staff member was trying to get me in there just to remove those weight plates as a way to punish me and humiliate me, because a simple warning would’ve been good enough and I would’ve sincerely apologized but no he wanted me to drop everything at the moment and head in there to put those weight plates back. Even after that disrespect I still went to the gym to go put them back where they belong and to respectfully apologize even though the staff member wasn’t there so I did not get the chance to talk. It’s a great looking gym but if I would definitely recommend the staff to respect their customers and be more friendly when it comes to correcting them. I’ve been working with customers for years and I know what it’s like to be frustrated but if you really care about your business and want people to feel attracted to your services then you shouldn’t talk like that to anyone unless they are being a MAJOR problem for you, because even if you talk like that to just one person that can still spread everywhere. Read moreThis place neglects to tell you that you will be charged a $30 maintenance fee for each adult on your account! Maintenance??? Much of their equipment is old and not well maintained!! HT Fitness does a WAY better job at maintaining equipment and keeping things clean. This place only has 3 cleaning stations! And in the 7 months I've been going here, I've only seen a cleaning person one time. Can't wait till Planet Fitness opens up here in Bastrop!! RESPONSE TO OWNER's RESPONSE: Regarding maintaining equipment....the word "equipment" does not only refer to your spinning bikes, treadmills, and other cardio machines, it also means ALL the other "things" we use when working out, such as foam rollers, kettle bells, mats, yoga blocks, etc. The kettle bells are so old the weight cannot even be read, the yoga mats are disgusting and look like they've been there at least 10 years with no cleaning ever done, the yoga blocks are in the same category and the foam rollers are so soft from never being changed out they barely work. Oh, did I mention the disgusting shower curtains? Too bad we have to wait till our membership runs out before we can join Planet Fitness. And one more thing, every company I have ever signed a contract with has always gone over EACH item I had to initial. Read moreI joined AF in August and I absolutely LOVE IT! The environment is inviting and comfortable. I've tried to lose weight before, but every time I have joined a gym shortly after I quit. I always feel out of place, embarrassed, or like I just don't belong. Here everyone is so encouraging that it feels like I am walking into my home. Everyone is always smiling and happy to help.
When I joined AF I took advantage of my free consultation with a private trainer, Devan. She and Mike now help me with my diet and strength training. They took the time to talk to me about my previous injuries (I have several) and created a routine around them. When I'm in pain I feel comfortable to tell them and they help fix the issues.
Honestly, while all of those things are great, my favorite part is having cheerleaders. Even on days when I'm not in there for private training they take the time out of their day to ask how I'm doing and help me create my workout for the day. If they see that I am moving slow or look like I just want to quit, they literally cheer me on. If it weren't for Mike and Devan I don't know if I would be as successful today as I am.
