Steve tries to make this place as good as it can be, and it shows too. He's also super easy to get along with 99% of the time. The place has a solid used selection of comics and cards. I don't pay much attention to anything but his new MTG offering at any given time because, well, that's the whole reason I go there. He's explained why, and I get it too, he doesn't do any gaming in store, but also, from his telling, that was several years ago. I think if he were only willing to give it another try he'd see things likely going differently. Hey, times change and things can improve. But as that is out the window, again, for reasons that are his and it's his business he can run it how he wants, the place is how it is.
And how it is is still really good. I mean no criticism here. Just an opinion. If Steve should ever see this please note I'm merely giving my 2 cents as this is a review. Ultimately though what he's doing he's...
Read moreDO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS! The owner of this store is a total homophobe! I have gone to this store a few times in the past to purchase items, and each time the owner has been very cold and short with me. I figured he just wasn't very social. Upon my most recent visit, I was in the store for a good 30 minutes while the owner was chatting with a friend. I was not helped in the entire time I was in the store. I did, however, overhear the owner make several crass comments about women and use some homophobic slurs. After hearing him make such ignorant and offensive remarks, I immediately left the store and decided to purchase my hobby items elsewhere. I will not support a business with such skewed and hateful views. There is absolutely NO reason for someone in this day and age to make such hateful comments about the...

My Grandma Fannie and Grandpa Joe lived right around the corner. The office of our dentist, Dr. Borsum, was also nearby, and there were other businesses there that my parents frequented. At Alexander's, I bought Jim Steranko's issues of SHIELD, and Jack Kirby's New Gods, Barry Windsor-Smith's Conan, and so many others that are still treasured by collectors.
Years later, Discount Hobby provides a kind of selection of comics I could only dream about when I was a child. I look forward to stopping in whenever I am able to visit Battle...
