This place has gone from unprofessional and rude to downright creepy. After trying to sell a number of new, never-used items that my daughter had been gifted but we never used, along with a handful of larger items that were gently used, I was turned away. The staff told me that this was their “busy season,“ and that they weren’t interested in even looking at my items. When I asked when “Busy season“ would end, they told me to come back sometime next spring.

I called to follow up later in the day to try and clarify how, when, and if I could sell items, and was told I needed to speak to the owner. He was unhelpful at best, and only made me more confused and frustrated (at one point suggesting I put every item in its own individual tote, later in the conversation telling me to come hang out at the store and chat with his staff to “keep them entertained” until he randomly stopped by and could personally evaluate my items). I asked repeatedly for clarification about how and when I could sell items to them, and what items were acceptable, and he became increasingly rude and uncooperative, and wouldn’t give me any straight answers to my questions. He also told me he offers coupons and discounts to customers in trade for positive google reviews, and he doesn’t allow any Facebook reviews, so “go ahead and complain, no one will care.”

After I politely ended the pointless conversation, (here’s where it gets creepy) he called me back again less than 90 seconds later, even though I hadn’t given him a number or indicated that I wanted to call back, just to tell me that he had “verified with his staff” that I had lied about my encounter in his store, and that all of my goods were “junk, with non-working parts.” He then continued to call me back with changing stories, each time citing the “cameras” he checked, trying (I guess) to find a lie that would convince me that I’m wrong. I’m not sure why he continues to contact me, but I’ve never been harassed with repeated follow-up calls from a business wanting to argue with me, and his obsession with this is scary.

It’s not worth my time to ever come back here again, I’ll drive a little bit further to use a Once Upon a Child that actually cares about their customers and isn’t so overwhelmed with items that they won’t even open totes before dismissing the contents as “junk.” Hopefully the stalker-ish...

Today I visited the Battle Creek "Once upon a child" I took in 2 tubs of very clean freshly laundered ,check once and once again for any stains or tears found nothing. Freshly folded childrens clothing. After driving 35 miles and going thru all the process of how you wait and they take what they want and it is priced by their corporate offices, you have basically no say here. After an hour I was sent a text and returned to the store promptly. I was told they took what they wanted and I was Quote a give price do i want to sell to them ? I said yes.! They said here is the rest of your stuff unfolded and thrown in the tub.S. They said, everything was cute but out dated and Stained! They took approx. 1 tub of my clothes. I left came home went through each piece of clothing and found not on Stain!!!!! Baby onesies do not go out of style or bathing suits, and nike sweatshirts. Sorry . They did this to one other person as i stood there waiting my turn . .. now to be fare I look around as i was in the market for a few childrens dresses in the correct sizes. SORRY My clothing was in much better condition than what was on their racks. I m sorry that they think i was the fool. Maybe another City can judge everyone. The rest of my gear will go to a consignment shop or will be given away. sorry you are...

I Have been SO impressed with the experiences ive had the last couple months since the new Owners have taken over !!!! In the past i thought it was a clutter mess and not very good customer service and i stopped going in...i decided to stop in this past october to sell a few things, i was SO surprised how friendly and helpful they were,they helped me unload and load my items NO PROBLEM! I noticed All the clutter has went down and SO much easier to look through everything. Not to mention with how fast my babies grow having the great prices for name brand clothes and brand new like toys, and baby gear it REALLY IS A GREAT PLACE TO SHOP!! I have brought things in to sell AND i notices they WERE a lot more picky than the past years and truthfully i appreciate that so when i decide to shop i get to choose only from VERY new barely used things....instead of them buying everything people bring in and then im looking through stained, faded, dirty kids stuff! I WANT TO specifically Say thank YOU to the owners and staff at the battle creek location for ALWAYS being so helpful amd and friendly. Would Recommend this store to...
