I really wanted to love Best Stop Cajun Market, especially after being excited about it opening up in the area, but my recent visit left me with mixed feelings.
The layout of the store is confusing from the jump. When you walk in, there’s no clear direction or signage to let you know how things flow. One half of the space looks like a market with a cooler and dry goods, while the other side has a few counters and menus, which you’d assume is where you order food. Turns out, I was wrong. After trying to place my order at what looked like the correct counter, I was told I had to go to another register to order, but could still pick up some items from the first counter. That whole process made little sense and, honestly, someone should be there to help guide customers through it, especially for folks like me who aren’t familiar with how this type of setup works.
When I finally did get my order in, two chicken sandwiches, fries, and chicken tenders, it took over 30 minutes to come out. It wasn’t especially busy, and there were plenty of employees around, most of whom didn’t seem engaged or available to help. A little direction or friendliness would’ve gone a long way. Even during the ordering process, the staff wasn’t particularly welcoming, it felt more like I was inconveniencing them by placing an order.
That said, the food itself was solid. The chicken sandwich was flavorful and cooked well, which is probably the biggest reason I’m giving two stars instead of less. I had actually stopped in once before during their earlier days and hoped they’d work out the kinks by now, but unfortunately, the same issues were still there.
There’s potential here, but they need to fine-tune the customer experience, starting with layout clarity, service flow, and...
Read moreI've been to the one in Baytown 3 times. First 2 times they were out of catfish. Today they had it and I was do excited. I ordered a pepper jack boudin ball and a regular ball. Both delicious. I wanted a catfish poboy, which is not listed on the menu board, nor is the fish sandwich. It took 4 people to figure out whether they had one or not. They do. So I ordered a catfish poboy, sweet potato fries, because sweet potato fries are hard to find in Baytown and I love them,so I got those with an extra piece of fish and a blt sandwich for my daughter. Told the cashier my name and she repeated it. Said it would be about 15 to 20 minutes. So after 15 minutes they called out an order for a Sasha. They kept looking for a Sasha. After 20 minutes of them looking for a Sasha, I had my daughter take the receipt and ask them if it was pur order. We've been there almost 46 minutes by this time. And it was our order. By this time my order of hot food was barely Luke warm because it had been ready for at least 20 minutes. There was no offer to remake my food. So by the time that I drove back to Highlands, my food was ice cold. Fried catfish and cold sweet potato fries is not all that great. I'm sure it would have been delicious if it was hot. So make sure that they have your name right if you order. And also, they don't offer the salads or cinnamon rolls or the hot plate lunches at the Baytown store, that they have at the other stores..so I gave 2 stars for my whole experience. I'm really disappointed 😞 because I really wanted a hot...

At that point I just said a boudin link so she gets it throws it on the scale and then hands it to me again blank face and says go pay I we there and directs me to the cashier counter I’m like ok cool when I step over to the cashier counter the two young ladies were engaged in conversation about how they are working 10 hours a day complaining and then I finally got there after and was checked out and sent on my way this is sad does not represent the Cajun culture...
