I usually prefer to leave positive feedback, but I feel it's important to share my experience to help others make informed decisions.
On August 7, 2025, I visited this store hoping to find a specific game I used to enjoy on my Xbox One. While they didn’t carry that exact title, the staff kindly recommended a newer game from the same universe. The box indicated it was compatible with Xbox Series X, and since I had mentioned multiple times that I own an Xbox One, I assumed it would work on my console as well.
The game was originally labeled as “Used,” but when I brought it to the register, the cashier opened the packaging and replaced the label with a “New” tag before finalizing the sale. Unfortunately, I later discovered the game wasn’t compatible with my system.
I called the store to explain the situation and was told I could return it. However, when I arrived, I was informed that because the game was sold as “New” and had been opened, it was no longer eligible for return. I tried to clarify that the game had initially been marked “Used” and was opened by the employee before being handed to me, but I was told there was nothing they could do.
While I understand policies are in place for a reason, this situation left me feeling disappointed and out $20 for a game I can’t use. I take responsibility for not double-checking compatibility myself, and I’d encourage future customers to do their own research before making a purchase—especially when buying games for older consoles.
However, every other experience I've had at this GameStop location has been...
Read moreI am a little late in adding my review but better late than NEVER. I went into Gamestop Beaufort SC, in October of this year. I was with my two sons and we went in to purchase a PS5 for my younger son’s 12th birthday. We got a cold and uncomfortable look from the guy who was talking with a female and male. I will assume they were customers. I told the employee I called and he stated he didn't know because I did not speak with him. I said that was fine, I just wanted to purchase the gaming system. He said I would have to pay for it before he brought it out and I said ok, that's fine. After I made my purchase and put a warranty on the device he went to the back to get it as we were still being stared down by I am assuming customers. He didn't offer a bag for the high-volume item I bought or made me feel like I would be a returning customer. I know my boys are big but I truly believe we shouldn't have been treated like that. The policy of purchasing an item before we could see it should be in writing or on the door. So we would not feel like we were being targeted/ treated differently as...
Read more(18dec approximately 1300) Just got done trying to buy some clearance that my daughter wanted to get for her sister as a christmas gift( stated 50% off clearance items) . But system only took off a smaller percentage of price instead of 50%. (For example, she was trying to get a bowlan wonderland game, marked at clearance 4.98, but the price was 3.98. Not alot, but it was coming out of my daughters money, so she wanted to save what she can). Cashier did not want to edit it for fear of getting a call from manager because of it (even though he would not be in the wrong if he did do it). I offered to stay behind so we can edit it when some customers leave, but he was firm on not wanting to edit it. He stated " im not going to edit it, so are you going to buy it or not?" I normally go here for things, but now, just have a bad taste in mouth from this location. Dont think I will ever be coming back to this store again. I would recommend avoiding the deals here, as the prices are not what they seem. Dont feel pressured to buy when at register and find out the discount is not right....
