TL;DR: My skin is so clean that my compulsive skin picker self has nothing to pick and it isn’t fun anymore. This is the only thing that has worked and my skin looks amazing.

I have been a compulsive skin picker since high school. I had what I considered to be “good skin” in that I did not have inflammatory acne, just some clogged pores around my hairline and nose area. If I left it alone it wouldn’t have been obvious and that would probably have been that. But due to compulsive picking, I had some post inflammatory hyperpigmentation and often had scabs and damaged skin on my face. I have tried over the years to get a few facials in the hope that if someone else did the extractions, I could leave them alone, but regular facialists never really cleaned my skin out as well as I liked, so I kept picking.

Eventually I got the idea to go to an acne clinic to get more thorough extractions, and I saw Shannon for a couple of appointments. She did a really nice job with the extractions and did not push me to change my home skincare routine (this was really important because I was happy with my home routine at the time, and if she had pressed me, I probably wouldn’t have come back).

My clogged pores did keep coming back and at one appointment with Ellisha in Oct 2021, I mentioned that I thought my skin was normal and it was just me who made it bad. I still remember, she said “Oh, no, it can be so much better than this!” And I went home and checked my products against the Face Reality list of pore cloggers. Of course they were in everything, and I spent quite a bit of time trying to find drugstore products that passed the ingredients check, but eventually I just said to heck with it and switched completely to Face Reality products. This change, plus switching my shampoo and conditioner to ones recommended by Ellisha, completely changed my skin. Within probably 2 weeks. It was insane. There was nothing to pick anymore. And coming from someone who can see blackheads no one else could find with a magnifying glass, that’s saying something. Skin picking was no longer satisfying because nothing good came out.

Since then I have mostly stayed on the Face Reality products, with a couple of changes here and there. I go to see Ellisha regularly (for maintenance extractions, and because I enjoy going so much and trust her advice) and my PIH is almost entirely gone. I truly appreciate the change she has made for my skin, both from a cosmetic perspective and from a mental health...

I’ve been seeing Ellisha for almost a year and am so thrilled with my results. I’ve always struggled with different types of acne from teenage years into my late 30s. At my first appointment she did a great job explaining what was happening with my acne and things we could do in a gentle and informative way.

Ellisha is an amazing technician with her facials and knows what she is doing in order to accomplish your goals. The product line and specific products she recommended to me are reasonably priced and last a long time. It makes the whole process obtainable and manageable. She also provided me with a list of common ingredients to make sure to avoid in other products and supplements to help yield better results.

After about 6 months of going in for facials ever 6-8 weeks(more in the begging) and using the products I found myself able to go out for the day in only a tinted SPF, never in my life did I think that would be the case. I’m so happy with how my skin looks and that the process didn’t require any harsh processes or prescriptions.

Ellisha has been great to work with and I always appreciate her answering my questions about products or new things I’m thinking of getting. Just the other weekend I was going backpacking and realized I’d need a different routine and Ellisha quickly helped me out with recommendations for wipes I could use.

I went to Shannon every month for a little over a year, and cannot be more happy with the results!! When I first saw her, my acne was awful and had completely shattered my confidence. Having entered my adult years, I was really confused why I was having teen-like acne. It was inflamed, lots of pimples, and pretty painful in some areas.
