My wife bought me 10x50 BX-4 Pro Guide Binoculars for an anniversary present many years ago. Great binoculars. They were an asset to have alone during almost any outdoor activity. I recently brought them to an outdoor concert in The Gorge Amphitheater. When I removed them from the carrying case I noticed that one of the Eye Cups had been damaged and had fallen off. I inquired with Leopoldo and Stevens in Beaverton and they instructed me to deliver the damaged binoculars to their Beaverton address to be evaluated. I stated in a letter that accompanied the damaged binoculars, that I believed that I had damaged the binoculars and that even if it wasn’t covered with warranty I wanted to get them repaired. Within a couple of days after the binoculars had arrived in Beaverton I was informed that the damage to the binoculars was 100% covered by their warranty and they would be mailing me a new pair. They also stated that the 10x50 version was back ordered and that if i did not receive my replacement within 6 weeks to please give them a call. I placed the call 6 weeks later having not received the replacement. The customer service representative explained that the 10x50 version was still not available so he asked his supervisor if it would be acceptable to substitute more expensive pair of 12x50 binoculars in their place. His suggestion was approved and I received my new BX-4 Pro Guide HD 12x50mm Binoculars a couple of days later. I could not be not satisfied. Their warranty program puts the customer first in a big way. Our new binoculars are incredible. They will serve us well for years to come. Thank you Leopoldo and Steven’s for one of the best customers service policies out there...which covers their outstanding line of...
Read moreThis place is a menace to my neighborhood. They have a private entrance to a public park with no signage as you exit the park informing you that you're entering private property but that doesn't stop the night security guard from aggressively stopping you to ask you to leave when clearly you were walking straight to the exit. You tell him: "yes, we're leaving, just walking the dog around the neighborhood" you're in your pajamas for god's sake, but then he reiterates in an aggressive, holier-than-though tone "I understand that, that's why I'm being 'nice', I know we don't have any signs but you are trespassing right now and you need to leave." You point to the exit, now afraid this guy is going to put hands on you, "We're just going to the exit right over there..." It's still not enough for him, he point in the same direction you're pointing, the same direction you were walking when this interaction began "There is the exit over there, you need to leave now." He finally lets you go, but now you're angry, had this man just observed you for 1 minute (the one minute it takes to walk from the park exit, along the edge of the parking lot, to the exit/smoking area) he could have seen that you, in your pajamas, walking your dog, were not a threat, and just passing through a sliver of the property like neighborhood residents have been doing for years peacefully. But instead this man thought it was best to intimidate and scare you for no real reason other that to make himself feel big. You never had an ill thought about Leupold & Stevens before this but now... what kind of trash company would allow security on their staff who gets off on threatening 5'5" women in their pajamas, just walking their...
Read moreThis is very disappointing for me to need to write a bad review for Leupold. I have for years thought highly of their quality and purchased several of their products (scopes, rangefinders, binoculars, etc.). I recently contacted Leupold tech support and explained that I had a range finder I had purchased new a few years ago and I used it maybe 5 times at the range. The red display internally was fading and you couldn’t really see much. Leupold did not even offer repair, they just said things wear out—the life of the device is at its end—seriously!!! They said they know about this and they would send me an email with discounted pricing to buy a new one! Are you kidding me?! Don’t stand behind it, don’t offer to repair it, just tell customer that your product is worn out after 5 uses. Leupold’s representative wax very scripted and matter of factly about it, as though this is something that is pretty common.
Needless to say, I am no longer a Leupold customer and most likely never will be again. I discovered Vortex. They have an unlimited, lifetime warranty and I was impressed with their prices and products. The quality seems very high and with a “no questions asked warranty for lifetime”, how can you go wrong. If I have to buy again, I’ll buy where I will be backed with a lifetime warranty! Go Vortex!
I attached a photo of part of the email sent to me by Leupold. Bad customer service Leupold. Take a clue from...
