First the pluses. The club is extremely clean and modern. All of the equipment is in brand new condition. The employees are friendly and actually interact with the customers which is not something you see at some of the other clubs. Now the minuses that keep this from getting a five star review. There are probably literally 100 treadmills. Even at the busiest time, I have never seen more than a quarter of them being used at one time. Meanwhile, there is no free benchpress. Not one. There are four racked bench presses which kind of do the job but the problem is that during busy times you can’t even get on one. Half the times I’ve gone there I have not even been able to do a full set of exercises because of this weird ratio. Also, there are no bent bars with collars and free weights. So there is one 50 pound bent bar for curling. There is 1 60 pound bent par for curling. This is in the entire club, one of each. Meanwhile, again, there are probably 75 treadmills not being used. So there is definitely room to put the weights that are popular and that are used but instead, there are just tons and tons of treadmills sitting there. Another negative is if you want to use any of the black card benefits that you pay for, you have to stand in line at the one check-in computer that can have a really long line. This visit, I didn’t even get to use my benefits because there were just tons of people waiting in line. Why do they not have two or three or four or 10 computers? Or let us check in via the app? Paying for the services and there being so many people that we can’t use those services is not a service.
UPDATE: The computer line was really only the one day. It seems Mondays after work is super busy. Bumped the rating up one. Will be 5 if they can adjust the ratio of unused machines to super popular free weights. I want to emphasize the general friendliness of the employees because coming from that other club, it is so nice to have employees interact with those who don’t happen to be in sororities at the moment.
UPDATE: You all need to get some dang bench press machines. You have 4 and today 3 of them were occupied by girls sitting on their phones literally my whole workout. Not working out. Just playing on their...
Read moreTheives at this gym and condescending staff: If you're the jerk who stole my wife's hydroflask at the gym today (Sunday January 21, 2024) just give it back.
And if you see it here please take it to the front desk. Olive green hydroflask with a grey silicone boot with many stickers (they will probably remove them). Well used and loved. Sentimental value. Potential reward for return (a brand new germ free bottle!!)
If you're gonna steal at least steal from corporations not human beings. Shame on you. You don't need someone else's 5 year old grungy water bottle. I'll trade you for a new one. Jfc. You can literally email hydroflask and tell them a sad story about how yours was lost and they'll send you a brand new one (it happened to me once).
*edit: dropped the rating because the response was condescending. Of course I know you're not "responsible" for thefts. It's just important to know that there is theft at this location. Additionally they told my wife to call them around 10pm to check back in about it last night and when they called several times nobody answered so the customer service is both non existent and condescending. We aren't calling the police for a water bottle. Just maybe at least answer your phone when you tell someone to call. (Last time I was there as a guest an employee was in the locker room but I don't know for what purpose because she had a 10 minute conversation with a guest in the locker room about the weather at a volume so loud I couldn't speak to my wife right next to me and be heard.)
I reiterate don't leave your stuff unattended here. Not even to pee for 1 minute. Pick a different gym if you want secure items and compassionate staff that does work instead of gossip way too loudly. I'm glad I don't pay for a membership and I probably won't in the future. Even as a guest it's been one bad experience after another.
The posted rules are not followed or enforced. There are weird signs about "no tank tops" but as you can see from photo reviews that's not enforced. Just take the signs down if you don't mean it.
And please please please, I beg you, don't have your staff YELLING gossip in the echoey locker room. It is a sensory nightmare. I literally...
Read moreI have used Planet Fitness all over the country and today I visited their new facility in Portland and I was shocked that the guy at the front desk told me I could not take my workout bag with me while I am working out, it had to go in a locker. He said I could not even take any item of clothing like a jacket. Too bad they lost a customer for life!
Thanks for your response! But I am sorry, valuable items are not safe in either your vehicle or locker! But thank you! Ok, since I posted here I have visited and worked out at two other clubs, Esporta and LAFitness and just walking through the clubs at fairly busy times and it is obvious that at least a third of users of equipment, and even those in the pools, have work out bags of various sizes parked near them, along side or against a wall and it would be hard to trip over them. I just think there must be some other reason for your policy because the risk of tripping over workout bags seems so low.
Ok, so I have been traveling a lot more in Illinois, Indiana, Missouri and Arkansas and I have been so impressed with PF facilities! Honestly, they are clean, up to date equipment (except for the occasional stair master or TV that doesn’t work) and the staff are just great, usually! They do have some signage in the workout areas that says “no bags on floor” but many people do carry a small bag with keys and other items they don’t trust! Something that blew me away was a board along the wall between the locker room entrances where they apparently encourage people to leave their car keys with a sign that says that they are not responsible if they go missing! I get that they are trying to be helpful but who would leave their car keys/fobs hanging out there for anyone to grab and go! I could not believe that there were at least 6-7 sets of keys/fobs hanging there! Anyway, PF is great and because of that and that not one other employee of the 20 or so other clubs I have frequented in the last several weeks has told me at the front door that I could not carry my workout bag with me, I am going to raise my rating to 5 stars. Thank you PF for having such great national presence...
