Was really fun to do, had my birthday party here, unfortunately there wasn't much parking, but that's not these guys fault, there was a farmers market going on. They give you 6 knives, 4 small axes, and at least for my party (5 throwers, so 2 lanes) there were three hatchets you could throw. I had a ton of fun, and the fact that they wet the target makes it that loads easier to land the blade. I've been doing throwing knives as a hobby when bored and this was really fun to do.
But, a couple gripes. The lanes that I was at (might be different for others) were a little close, so every once in a while when I knife or small axe (all metal tiny fun axes :) ) would bounce back, they would never cross the red line you had to stay behind when throwing, but it felt cramped. I wasn't scared they were going hit us, but it just seemed a little close. I actually think what would be best to fix this is move the table that was there back a few feet, and maybe move the padding for the knives all the way to the red line. The place was not loud by any means which was nice, but that meant that when a knife or axe landed on the concrete, it was a little loud, so just be aware.
The employees were great, generally left me and my party alone, and were happy to show us how to throw and throw safely, and that once you throw the hatchet to not throw any more, so I appreciate the immediate explanation. Another thing I'll say is that the cost wasn't bad, it's 20 and some change, which as a college student who's looking to do this a little more, and possibly on a regularish basis, it doesn't totally break bank.
Long story short, these guys are great and honestly for their sake of sleep, they gotta stop answering past hours, I didn't expect a note back at 11! But I appreciate all the immediate help and all the info I might need!
I recommend to new people trying this out, try to park on railroad, and have fun, and don't be afraid to...
Read moreWhat a fun place! I stepped out of my comfort zone, but was completely comfortable. This was our first time going axe throwing and we reserved 3 targets for our sons 13th Birthday Party. When we arrived the gentleman working was incredibly friendly and welcoming. His personality was warm and inviting. He clearly loves his job and that shows through in his interaction with us as well as the other patrones. They have minimal snack options, but the non-alcoholic beverage, beer and snack prices were more than reasonable AND they welcome you bringing your own food. This is awesome!
Now, on to the axe throwing itself. I wasn't sure what to expect, but the facility was set up in a way that allows larger groups to interact with esch other, but also provides a bit of privacy for smaller parties. They have a wide variety of games/targets to choose from and they even offered to provide tips for throwing better if we wanted/needed. Seriously one of the BEST outings we've had in a hot minute. We will happily make the trek from Camano Island up to Bellingham for this again....
Read moreI recently went to Bellingham Axe with some friends and it was one of the best choices I’ve made lately! I was really impressed with their quick and helpful response when I had questions about booking online, and once my questions were answered it was a breeze to make our reservation. Checking in was quick and easy, the safety/throwing lesson was simple but effective, and overall the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. At the end of our time, we asked a staff member to help us snap a couple group pictures and a few minutes later she came over with a ring light and took a few pictures. Overall I would say that Bellingham Axe is a very cool place to hang out for an evening, and it’s no more expensive than going to a movie or getting dinner out. I will absolutely be going back as often as I can afford it and I highly recommend trying it out...
