At first the staff were friendly and took our order. We took our seats and drinks were soon delivered to the table. It was all downhill from there.
A moment later, the person who took our order returned to tell me that that they had accidentally charged me for the smaller size of my meal instead of the larger size and said they needed $8 more. I was fine with just having the smaller size instead but they informed me that it was too late to make it smaller so they needed to charge me the additional $8. I had already paid $43 including a 20% tip but agreed to pay the additional money even though I thought it was kind of low brow to ask for more money after their mistake.
I returned to the table and while we were sipping our drinks the two of us saw the person who took our order and another employee handling and boxing up ready to eat food without gloves and after handling money and the pos computer without washing their hands.
We think this kind of unsafe food handling is totally unacceptable and combined with how they handled choosing to charge us again for their mistake, we returned to the counter to tell them we were leaving and to ask for our money back. The person who took our order responded with a smart comment that they were “wearing gloves now,” and called over the other worker to issue the refund. They both rattled off a bunch of excuses about how they try to wear gloves and they wash their hands a lot, etc but we never saw them wash their hands and they were clearly handling ready to eat food without gloves.
I was told we would receive our money back so we left our barely-touched drinks behind and left.
Upon checking my bank account and the e-receipt I found out they only refunded the food menu price but kept the money for the drinks, the tip, and the tax for the whole order, including the food. So they kept $18 and chose not to disclose that to me when they said I would be refunded.
I wish we would have seen the google review from a week ago that stated the employees don’t wear gloves before we decided to go there today…
Update: I have since received my refund. Also the issue with them handling money isn’t whether it’s cash or card it’s the fact they were taking peoples cards and putting them in the card reader and running the POS before returning to handle food without washing up or...
Read moreThe food was delicious!!! But we had this one waitress that was SO RUDE. I was scared to speak again. When my friends and I got there we were standing in line and the place was full. So we had to block the door to be able to stand in line. There was no where else to stand because the place was FULL. But obviously when people would come in we would squish together to make room. Then this waitress is trying to pass and says “this is a walkway” indicating for us to move. At that time we were already spaced apart to allow room because another couple had just walked in. So a simple “excuse me” would’ve been sufficient for us to squish more if she needed more room. Anyway we brush off her aggressive tone and proceed to ordering. Then after she brings half our table there order then takes our number. So I tell her “oh we are still missing three plates” she says “yes they are being made right now, your guys food is next.” I told her “oh we didn’t order after them btw we are the order after because a couple was in between us in line.” She said “well I know your face so I will get it” in such a rude manner my whole table was shocked. Then 2 min later a different waitress comes and gives us the order of the couple and we tell her it wasn’t our order and she asked what we ordered and got us our food. Anyways idk why that waitress was so rude so just be aware that one waitress is mad for no reason. They don’t wear name tags but she had braids with brown hair, and yellow/orange/pink highlights. The hosts was...
Read moreWe were greeted with a kind face as soon as we entered and utterly accosted with the delightful smell of waffles. I was impressed to see so many options— surely something for everyone.
They have the cutest (sweet as?) merch and I snagged some lovely stickers.
I got the mango coconut matcha which was refreshing. The baker blast left nothing to be desired in terms of sweetness (we added Oreo 🤤). The Canadian quesadilla is a must try because of the perfect ratios of savory and sweet and spicy. You should check out their menu to see all the offerings. It’s rad.
The atmosphere is hella cute. Plants everywhere and cheeky decor. It’s clear a lot of thought went into this shop. I often judge a place by its bathroom and Sweet As did not disappoint (see pics, the darker ones). In fact, it inspired this review! They also have a sweet outdoor space.
Staff was lovely and aware of customer needs— even offering the bathroom code before I asked, just because they saw me come back from the bathroom door!
Best part of all? Everyone is invited! There were elderly folks, young adults, and even a...
