Fred Meyer Jewelers quoted me over $400 for a snapped ring where they had originally made it too thin, CAUSING it to snap later. The cost included 2 loose diamonds (more on that later), re-plating with rhodium, and fixing the snapped part. Then I get a call later that they found a THIRD loose stone so it was going to be over $500 total. I had some previous work done and was not the most trusting of them at this point so I went back in to pick up my ring.

After asking around on Facebook for recommendations, I was overwhelmingly advised to go to Sophie's Gold Mine. SHE IS AMAZING AND I LOVE HER. She took a look at my ring, checked out each stone, and said, "45 bucks." I even asked if there were any loose stones and she said absolutely not. When I went back to pick it up she had polished and cleaned it to perfection and also said that she had added a little extra material to the ring so it would be more secure at the breakage point. She fully guaranteed her work and invited me to stop in any time to get it cleaned or checked for free. I am sold on her establishment and will be utilizing her services from now on.

A final note about FM Jewelers: I have had them check my ring at least 3 times now and there has ALWAYS been at least 2 loose stones, allegedly. That means when they cleaned my ring for free as a "courtesy" they knew they would be making nearly $200 on me because of this scare tactic: "It would be such a shame if the stones fell out." Sofie is an excellent craftswoman and the best in town at what she does! Her services have always been so affordable, so quick, and so quality. When I got engaged, we decided to switch out a couple small stones and resize to very specifically fit my finger, which she was very helpful with finding the best size. She got them swapped and sized so quickly! Later, we found the main stone was a little loose based on the sound it made when shaking, and we brought it to Sofie who fixed it and polished it, both surprisingly at no charge!
