I recently purchased a garage package at the Menard's in Bemidji. Upon placing the order, I inquired about the lead time for the trusses and was told by Arthur that it would be two weeks. Shortly before the two weeks was up, I called Menards only to find out that my truss order, which had been paid in full was "on hold" at the supplier. They assured me that they would get a rush on the order and that the common trusses and the gable trusses would be delivered to the store together even though the order stated that only the common trusses were being included on the order. I called the store and spoke to Josh, who stated that he was the general manager. I explained my concern and was told that the common trusses would be there but not the gable trusses. Again I told him that he had assured me that these were included on the order confirmation that I had received from Menards. He proceeded to basically tell me he wasn't going to argue with me about it and that he had never told me that they would be there on time. I told him that I would not be doing any further shopping at Menard's and he told me that that was my choice to not shop at Menards. If my $11,000 plus purchase means nothing to them and they feel the need to treat me poorly, I will gladly take my business...
Read moreMy husband drove an hour and a half one way to come to Menards in Bemidji to buy a dishwasher as he has had good customer service experience and help here so he didn’t mind driving the extra distance to get it. After it was home we noticed that it had a huge dent on the top and a dent in the side. I called the department and Josh said there was nothing he could do, I would either have to pay $160 in delivery for them to swap it out at my house or I would have to bring it back to the store to swap it. He said it was no big deal and not a rush and I disagree, it was a huge inconvenience. I understand that there are policies and procedures that he has to follow, but a little empathy or a sincere apology would have been very much appreciated. So I drove if back to the store and once I was there it took over an hour and a half before the exchange was complete. The customer service employee Mya was very helpful, kind, and efficient. Back in loading, they were polite and helpful but understaffed. I will never go to this Menards again! I have bought kitchen cabinets at Menards in Cambridge and it was a great experience. I needed some garden items and ask the first employee I found, he was stocking shelves in the garden area, where they might be located. He know exactly where to go for my items, and even walked me back to mulch and helped load ten bags and he brought them to the registar while i continued to shop. Wow, I found out his name is Micheal and he is the General Manager. Nice job making me feel very well taken care of while I shopped. I have one other employee I would like to recognize, Matt in kitchen cabinets. We have been pricing and looking for months and after Matt helped us, I stopped by a couple of other Menards to see samples and not one employee in Baxter or Fargo even made eye contact. Matt has been available, kind and knowledgeable everytime we are there so it was only natural to go back and purchase from him.
