I usually enjoy my shopping experience at Grocery Outlet, but not today. I tend to bag my own groceries because I like them done correctly with like items put together. However, I was in a hurry today and let the young blonde woman bag my groceries. She ended up doing an awful job. My Himalayan bath salts had a hole from the hand soap pump that was pushed into it and it spilled all over everything. It looked like she literally threw my items in the bag, so she could rush to help the next person in line. I had also purchased a greeting card which should not have been put into the bag at all. Disappointing to say the least. When I called to let the store know, the person who answered said her name was Marissa and that I could bring the Himalayan bath salts back for a new bag. I told her I wasn't going to bother but I wanted to speak with the manager, and then she tells me she is the manager, so I ask to speak with one of the owner's instead. She said they were not currently at the store and I told her I would call back to speak with them at a later time.
What bothers me the most is that she did not offer me an apology and sounded like she could have cared less about the situation. I have been a retail store manager and have years of customer service experience, and it seems like standards have completely gone downhill, and that proper training has taken a backseat, as well. I see so many stores and restaurants where both of these are lacking, and it is not good for business. In this day and age where the internet has so much power and influence, you would think the exact opposite would be true. Unfortunately, that isn't the case in the majority of my experiences. I will still shop at Grocery Outlet, but I will make sure to bag my items each and every time, and will avoid the cashier who bagged my...
Read moreI can't say enough horrible stuff about this store. I have been shopping here for 4 years. Generally the employees are pretty nice overall and the reason for this one star review does not have anything to do with them. The number one problem that I have with grocery outlet is the price signs on the items tells you the price of grocery outlets price and then it says elsewhere those prices are 100% inaccurate I don't understand how they can advertise an inaccurate price. I have called all over the country here in the United States on items that they say elsewhere could not find that price being a very high price anywhere else in the United States for the same exact item same manufacturer same weight same everything so to your corporation please tell America why you put these signs that are incorrect on your products? Next thing you are grocery outlet you are not Fred Meyers you are not Kroger you are the small guy on the block but your price is are higher than the big guys on most items before Corona virus the meat prices and everything at grocery outlets were a lot less than conventional grocery stores. I get inflation and I get all that's going on in the world but you're a small guy and I see a lot of your meat stuff get discounted because it doesn't sell for the outrageous...
Read moreIt was ok. I found much of the pricing to be comparable to the Safeway I go to, or even more expensive since Safeway gives me some great deals and coupons through the "just for you" app. And I found some of the "other places" price comparisons to be misleading. One example had something for $12.99, with the "other places" price was $24.99. I know for a fact Safeway sells that item for $12.99. That being said, you definitely get a better deal at Grocery Outlet on body care items. Olay products that sell for $15+ at Safeway, sell for $5. Yes, please. Limited selection, though. Also, eggs. I bought Vital Farms eggs, 18 ct, for far less than they sell them for at Safeway. Same with grass fed ground beef. Store was clean, employees were friendly. I'd say, go explore Grocery Outlet. Make note of pricing on things you normally buy elsewhere. You could save some money. Don't expect a lot of variety. They had, like, 2 brands of TP there, none of which are the brand I usually use, but they do have a seasonal aisle, and I bought a sprinkler head. Saved me a trip to Home Depot. Conclusion: I'm not going to do my weekly shopping there, but maybe I'll go for some body care items, eggs, and grass fed ground beef. Good luck and...
