I purchased two tickets to Annie’s Signature Sweets class in January 2020. The class I purchased took place in April. Obviously, the pandemic happened and the class was canceled. She said she would reach back out when everything opened and she never did. I kept an eye out to replace the class when things opened back up. There were no classes scheduled, only virtual classes which is definitely not the same thing as taking an in-person cooking class. I would have to supply all my own ingredients, bake on my own, etc. Which is fine if that’s what I originally purchased. But I purchased two in-person tickets for the experience. I can YouTube a class for free online.
I reached out to Ann LoParo towards the end of July to say I was not interested in a virtual classes and she was no longer offering what I purchased. She told me she does not offer refunds and I should take a virtual class instead. I am not asking for a refund because I do not want to take her class. I am asking for my money returned because what I originally purchased is no longer available. It’s almost a year later and no in person classes have been scheduled.
She has ignored emails and phone calls. This is stealing. This is theft. This is greed. As a business owner, I understand going through hard times because of Covid. But you also can’t use Covid as a way to rip people off when they purchase something with their hard-earned money. If you no longer “feel safe” in person, then you give the money back. This is not a refund I am asking for. I paid for a service and I am not receiving it.
PS all these positive reviews magically appeared when my credit card company started investigating the company. What a...
Read moreI am so happy! I took Annie's macarons class virtually, a week ago. Admittedly, I tried to make these once before. I followed a video. It was okay, but I had cracked shells. I took Annie's class & am overjoyed with the results. She helped me troubleshoot common mistakes & was so patient with me. These little bits of deliciousness are sometimes temperamental. Annie made everything simple and was so upbeat and positive throughout! She had us make a Swiss Merengue Buttercream to fill the shells/cookies and that was even more fun than the cookies! I was nervous and excited to try these. She empowered me into making these. Let's face it, even a cracked macaron is still delicious! But I didn't have many cracked ones. We talked through why it could be and I made another batch on my own, this past weekend. No cracks! I used the notes I took and they came out beautifully! The buttercream recipe gives you enough for 2+ batches, so if I wanted to, I could make another batch tonight! See? Annie made me feel confident and now I know I can do this difficult cookie with ease! Makes me want to try something more difficult with her next time 👍 thanks Annie,...
Read moreMy 10-year-old daughter just finished Annie's baking camp for kids and it was truly a wonderful experience from beginning to end! Our kiddo had broken her arm (and, of course, it had to be her dominant hand) right before the camp. I contacted Annie regarding the situation and she graciously offered us accomodations so that I could attend along with my daughter so that she wouldn't miss out. Annie showed true patience and kindness with the kids in the class, as she took the time to explain things in detail along the way, and helped anyone who needed a hand with the various techniques she demonstrated. She also had her wonderful assistants available to jump in whenever/wherever needed. Overall, I would highly recommend her class to kids and adults alike who are looking to expand their baking skills or who might be looking for a challenge. We're definitely going to be making more of the macarons from the final class as they were my daughter's (and the rest of the family's) favorite! Thanks...
