Heck's Things and Things Indoor Flea Market — Local services in Berlin

Edit: Went today, March 2025 and their bead selection is on point. Still messy, but getting better.

Drove from Guilford to New Britain to check out this ‘up and coming flea market’. Arrived, first and foremost, there was broken glass in their parking lot and around their front door. I struggled to get to the front door without having to walk out of the way from the broken glass and items outside of the building.

Proceeded through the door to find that the first floor was full of confused people standing around talking. This was a one way in and the same way out scenario. We found a dead end and needed to turn around and walk through the crowd of confused people again.

Realized that all the “home goods” items were upstairs. Proceeded to find a maze of rooms to explore. Nothing stood out – people had rummaged through the items, leaving a mess. Most of the items were something you’d find at Grandma and Grandpa’s or a tag sale, but a bit higher in price.

This place is a great find. We've been there twice and plan to return, and we live almost an hour away. We go for furniture--tables, chairs, bookcases. Some is dated and we plan to update by refinishing, but we've also found solid wood drop-leaf tables in great shape. The great thing is that almost everything is solid wood and will hold up over time. Everything is extremely reasonably priced, and the owner was very kind about holding an oversized item for us until until we could fit it in the car. Upstairs there are also rooms upon rooms of clothes and household items. Our kids like to explore and buy a few items for their rooms (books, kid-themed lamps, etc) while we look for furniture. Had a great experience with this wonderful indoor flea market. I was looking for a desk and happened to come across one on marketplace posted by the owner David. He wanted to make sure the dimension were going to work for me which I had not noticed. I was thankful he pointed this out. He then took the time to send me photos of other desks he had and then let me come in by appointment to purchase. He was very accommodating, flexible and always quick to respond to my questions.
