02-17-2023 Tested, Failed RACIST! WELCOME TO BLACK HISTORY! I am an Illinois Educator and a paralegal. Sara in Legal is so bigoted that she could not fathom me having more than one vocation. The chain exemplifies racism & cowardice. Lies & no facts or evidence. I do not endanger my licensing and livelihood over lowbrow controversy created by a lowdown business out of Wisconsin. BETTER STORES: WalMart/Sam's Club, Costco, Meijer, Mariano's, Tony's, Caputo's, Aldi, Binny's, Pete's, Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods -0 stars - 02-02-2023, CAVEAT EMPTOR! - FIRST, KNOW WOODMAN'S STEALS YOUR AUTOMOBILE IDENTITY, BY HAVING VIDEO CAMERAS INSIDE OF THE OIL CHANGE BAY AREA, BUT WITHOUT POSTED NOTIFICATION. Illinois is an ALL-PARTIES CONSENT STATE. Having cameras trained on the public's vehicle license plates, means Woodman's is recording your vehicle identity, without full and legal consent. Woodman's is stealing your personal identity, plus utilizing info., without customer consent. Woodman's Corp. Office and a person named Sara viewed footage while I reported an incident about which I called. Sara recited my vehicle license plate number then had gumption and gall to ask if I had been recording her employees. I said I took photos and stated legal reasons why. I said I never gave consent to Woodman's to video or audio record my vehicle or me inside of their oil service bays, so that gives me more legal Right to take pictures. Sara failed to refute or dispute. Woodman's Bloomingdale IL - Oil Service & employee Kevin, broad-sized male, who is a trained liar; Woodman's Market Bloomingdale, plus store manager Dustin, a weasel trained to lie, manipulate, spin facts, etc.; Woodman's Corp. Off., plus Sara, who refused her title to me, is in legal, by her inquiry if I have a claim against Woodman's. She is a master deceiver, trained liar, manipulator, etc., and Woodman's corporation as whole. Kevin - photo of large sized male wearing a leather jacket; Dustin - photo, male wearing a long overcoat - -- two males, one of large stature and is bullying and controlling, of unperceived race or heritage, were combative, manipulating, and attempted to be controlling over me, a small female, who is B.I.P.O.C. Without Race involvement, the age-old tale is females are generally treated poorly, disrespected, cheated, manipulated, etc., at, in, by auto service shops, particularly operated by and employed predominantly of males. Woodman's Bloomingdale, IL Oil Service has posted hours of 8:30 a.m. open. I only utilized the Woodman's Oil Service a few times. Woodman's Bloomingdale has never opened their bays, on time, that I have attempted to have oil service. I called Dustin, in the Market, to report it. As I waited, I noticed nobody else waiting. I know it must be that regular customers know Woodman's never honors its posted service operation hours. Kevin showed up, and I let him know I spoke to Dustin. I informed Kevin that it would better service customers for the oil service to find a way to open on time, even if including hiring additional employees. I gave Kevin benefit of knowing that he'd been helping someone else so Woodman's claims. Kevin admitted that Woodman's Oil Service doesn't open on time. He used excuses about other businesses. That failed to sway me, but I tried to get him to drop it and move on. He tried to make his point by telling me that it opened on time 'yesterday'. I didn't sway or buy any of it so Kevin said, "I am not going to change your oil. You can leave." He opened the forward bay door. His excuse was that "I'd 'threatened' him," by telling him that I would call Dustin. I had called Dustin already, and had told him about Kevin opening late. Kevin knew his actions and reactions and mannerism are against "any" responsible and respectable corp. policy. Once he refused service over speaking to him about being late, he knew he'd stepped outside of corporate policy. In walks Dustin. He came to the oil service building for the purpose of spinning tales, omitting facts, covering up for his employee, and lying,...
Read moreTough for me to figure out exactly how to review this place. It does have some major positives, so I'll start with those:
Pricing on many items absolutely destroys the competition. 12-packs of certain pop brands for 5 bucks and some change! 8-pack of Brawny paper towels for $13! 1 liter bottle of avocado oil for $9! 84-pack of Finish Quantum dishwasher packs for $20! Kitchen trash bags as low as $3.50 for 40! 32 oz. of pure maple syrup for $12! These prices easily beat everywhere else I've looked, sometimes by several dollars. Heck, their liquor section even beats Binny's on products they both carry, and it's the biggest liquor section I've ever seen at a grocery store. Massive selections available on many products, decent produce and bakery, also carries some interesting odds and ends like tools and... toilet seats? Good pet supply section, too.
On the other hand, navigating this place can feel outright daunting. They built a store bigger than Meijer or other "Super"-type stores that carries nothing but groceries, health and beauty stuff, and the aforementioned household items and pet supplies. The sheer size of it presents some considerable issues. If you walk over to dairy then realize you forgot something in produce it means walking half a mile (not really, but it kinda seems that way) back across the store. Layout has a lot of odd decisions and I haven't figured out how to traverse it effectively, like they put all the health and beauty stuff in smaller "sub-aisles" at the front of the packaged food aisles, an arrangement I've never seen at any other store. The chips and pretzels section has one giant half-aisle that runs like 70% of the length of the entire store, all the way from produce to dairy. Selections on some things feel oddly limited, like they don't have generic ibuprofen gel tabs in any quantities larger than 80 for some reason.
And all that praise for their pricing above doesn't apply to everything. I couldn't find any granulated cane sugar except pricey organic stuff, and the regular sugar prices seemed... underwhelming at best. Their prices on milk and eggs, while decent, are usually on par with places like Meijer and Target at best, sometimes a bit worse.
They also don't have a deli counter or any sort of hot bar/salad bar/prepared foods other than the bakery (probably to cut costs, I imagine). Oh yeah, they've also got a sushi counter for some reason. The lack of a deli counter disappointed me because someone told me I could get Red Leicester cheese here. They have pre-sliced cheese in the deli section and I looked there but couldn't find it. Eventually I did find it, in the "Block Cheese" section, not exactly where I expected to see it, but oh well. Still, it would've made that search much easier if I could've just visited a counter and just ASKED someone for what I wanted rather than wandering around such a gigantic store.
And as others have mentioned, they don't take card payments except for Discover and debit cards. I have both personally, so this doesn't bother me, but I do have to keep this in mind when I make a trip over here to make sure I can pay for everything! Oh yeah, and the gas station, while cheaper than pretty much everywhere else in the area and competing with even Costco and Sam's Club price-wise, also has MASSIVE lines most of the time. With no exaggeration, I regularly see 18+ cars at BOTH the fuel station "islands", lines sometimes 3 or 4 cars deep at every available pump. Honestly? I'd rather pay more to deal with less waiting.
I wavered between 3 and 4 stars on this, but I'll go with 4. In these tiresome times where corporations keep jacking up prices while using the excuse of "AAAHHHH INFLATION" which also feels like total B.S. since they keep reporting record profits each quarter, the unbeatable deals you find here feel incredibly refreshing. They're also open 24 hours, something which no other grocery store in the area does anymore. Worth driving here from Wheaton once a...
Read moreWoodman's has been being talked up lately, from advertisements to general public to even my family. I saw the store once across the street and thought it was pretty big but I figured it was something like Costco where you had to have a membership or they wouldn't let you in. No membership required here, just walk on in and shop. My family talked me into visiting because they said that it was very inexpensive, even compared to top [reliable] competitors, and that the food is good quality. Now I've only visited once so far however it's been a pleasantly surprising experience. Given the fact that it is a 24-hour grocery store and very inexpensive, in my head I thought that the store would reflect something like Walmart (which I hate). I was definitely wrong about my initial assumption. Walking into the store I was overwhelmed by snacks and treats alongside fresh produce and dairy. Very pleasant first impression, good planograming from their merch team. After that you'll walk into what feels like a regular grocery store where you'll find amenities like paper towels and birthday cards and other little trinkets, keep walking down and you'll find the rest of the grocery. Lots to check out in the grocery section, they have tons of isles and plenty of options to choose from even the same category of food. For example, they had one and a half aisles of pizza with two ginormous endcaps inbetween. Then the frozen food continues where you'll find several different varieties of mixed fruit and pot pies and chicken meals and lasagna and you name it. Keep going around and you'll find nutrition aisles at inexpensive prices, liquids like soda and Gatorade and water, plenty of dairy... I didn't check out the eggs but from my rush past them it seemed like the egg display was ginormous. And separate from everything that I've mentioned, they even had another wall that was labeled 'Frozen meals' (which I didn't get the chance to check out) I went looking for some dog food and I got heavily distracted by the amount of dog toys and treats. There's even more selection of treats and goodies for your dogs and cats than you would find at a PetSmart. When I asked an employee for guidance, they were extremely friendly and helpful and wanting to help. Even the Dr Pepper guy who is stocking the fridge was super giddy and friendly. Plenty of registers to walk up on, with a very short wait. I only had one person in front of me who was finishing up. The cashier was super quick and efficient while not ignoring speaking to the customer and there was even a bagger who had a new cart and filled it up (arranging the bags firmly so everything would make it out of the store with no hassle) and I was able to just leave the old cart behind. This process happened so quickly and efficiently that by the time I emptied my cart the next thing I noticed is the cashier was already ready with my total. The checkout experience was a lot more pleasant than I expected, actually I didn't expect anything but it still impressed. WOODMAN'S TEAM- Total...
