From the reviews, it seems like they either have great ones or a 1 star. Someone said most people have only ever posted 1 review and that's not possible.... I think this might be only the 2nd or 3rd review I've ever posted but this is not FAKE! I was thinking about buying a new MAC (mine is 2011) I use my computer for photography (Photoshop 40,000+ photos) and Genealogy (years worth of research, easily several thousand+ documents) and while my computer worked fine, it was slow. I was storing most things on a 2 TB hard drive that is about 75% full. Access times to get things from that drive were slow. I had 4GB RAM and 360 or 380 GB, can't remember exactly, of hard drive space. I really didn't have the $$ to shell out $3000 for the top of the line MAC. Someone at work suggested getting mine upgraded, I didn't even know you could do that, that's how "non-techy" I am! Our Computer IT guys - who do not work on MAC's because we don't have any in the office - suggested iMechanic. Since I didn't know anywhere else, that's where I went and how I picked them. I had looked online and looked at a 1 TB solid state hard drive and upgrading to 16GB of RAM. Everything said "you can install this yourself, watch our video, all you need is a screwdriver..." No way. I wasn't messing with the inside of my computer, I needed someone else to do this for me. I went to iMechanic, told them what I wanted. I knew what the online prices were and since I was using a "3rd party" I really thought they were going to get me on parts and labor - with my own research on the do-it-yourself parts, I was at about $400 w/o tax. iMechanic was $549.00 out the door - parts, service, & warranty. Totally worth it to me. I had the choice of leaving my computer for the 3 to 5 days it would take to get the parts or pay up front, keep my computer with me and they would call when parts where in. I choose Opt #2. Time to install was given as 1 day. Getting computer back was a little late - 1/2 day. But I had A LOT to transfer over with all those pics. I did warn them and I think they underestimated that a little. Overall, I'd give them 4 1/2 stars for that but I won't rate them down to 4 starts for it if 4 OR 5 full stars is my only choice. All was more positive than that little hiccup. Also, I had to re-install any software that I had downloaded and had a registration key for (Word, Photoshop, Reunion, RootsMagic, Quicken) they couldn't just transfer those programs but my data was all there as soon as I opened program again so they were able to move the data files. I think that's about it. I would recommend them HIGHLY - ask questions if you're unsure. They didn't try to upsell me, I went in and told them what I had looked at online - they warned me it would be "expensive" and I asked "how expensive" and the price for the 1 Tb solid state hard drive was within $20 of the one I looked at online but a better Apple brand match. They asked me several times if I was really sure I needed that much - I said yes, I want it. They seemed like they really didn't want me to be upset with the total bill but I went in expecting it and I basically knew what I wanted so I wasn't shocked or upset at all. I am old enough to have given birth to all of them there! Very nice, polite, knowledgeable guys, not condescending to someone who doesn't know much about computers - which I appreciated. For $549 I have a "new" lightning fast MAC that is faster than the basic new MACs. Very Very pleased and now my husband might have his 2014 MacBook updated too. Last note - their hours are work friendly. I didn't have to make arrangements to leave work early to get there by a 5 pm closing and they are open on Saturday. I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBEWARE OF PHONE HACKERS. Let me first start off by saying they do not actually fix phones here, unless you have a warranty with them or an I phone and that's if its an up to date I phone. What they put out there is really false advertising. If you really want to get your phone fixed theres a really great place in Carmel called "CPR Cell Phone Repair". But anyway, Ive come into Imechanic on two separate occasions. One was for my android phone that kept restarting every 5 minutes and the other time was also for an android phone I had that had a crack across the screen but still usable I just wanted the screen replaced. On the first occasion for the problem with the phone that was restarting every 5 minutes, they told me this was an easy and quick fix and they wont even charge me for it and they will call me on my friends phone number that I gave them, when its done and to give them a couple hours. They didn't call back and after 2 days of them not calling back I decided to call them on my friends phone and asked what was going on with my phone. They told me that they just fixed it and its ready to pick up and it will be 55 dollars. I said on the phone that the guy at the front desk told me that he wasn't going to charge me anything. The guy on the other line said "well how about 45 dollars then". I was really irritated but paid the amount when I got there. I stayed in the store for a couple of minutes while I turned my phone back on to see if it was really fixed. I waited for a couple minutes and it started doing the exact same thing again. I came back up to the counter and wanted to talk to a manager. They said the manager wasn't there. I told them I wanted my money back because the phone is obviously not fixed. They gave me my money back and told me to do a factory reset. Later on for the second issue with the new android having a crack on the screen. I came in there and they said they could fix it, no problem. I left it there for a week. I used a friends phone to call and ask if they had fixed it yet. They told me that they couldn't fix the screen and they weren't comfortable with fixing it because it was an android phone and I didn't have a warranty. It had been there for over a week and I asked if they did absolutely nothing to fix it and they weren't ever planning on it then why did they keep it for so long? They did not answer the question and told me if I wanted to pick it up now I needed to do that or they were going to charge me. I had gone and gotten my phone never intending on using there business again. Now here's the thing that really, really bothers me. I always have a million messages in my inbox and it is a tedious task to go through all of them. Well I had been going through my inbox and started noticing some of my accounts requested log in attempts and password change requests. I have a several step process for the security for my accounts like my facebook etc.. All of these log in attempts and password change requests for my accounts were from my phone and on the dates that my phone was in the possession of IMechanic employees. I will never trust this business again. They make you sign a waiver when you leave your phone with them saying that in order to fix your phone they need to be able to access the phone and to leave the passcode with them. This business is shady and untrustworthy. I would not ever recommend this business to anyone and caution people to stay very,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreReally not worth your time, I set up an appointment to drop off my boyfriends phone to get the battery replaced and was told they would overnight a battery and it would be done the next day. The second day I called and they said they were working on it and would call when it was done. Nothing no call, text, not even an email. The third day we went into the store and to pick it up because he could not wait any longer, he needed it for work. We get there and when we gave our information and what phone it was it suddenly was hard to find? The guy disappeared for about 10 minutes after he said he needed to find it. SIDE NOTE My phone and my boyfriend's phone share our locations constantly! I was checking about every hour for those three days. Not once did it disconnect nor show it was offline. Just sitting at the shop, slowly draining it's battery. We are waiting for the guy and all of a sudden it goes offline. Anyway, the guy finally comes back out says he has the phone taken apart but can't fix it because apparently they ordered the wrong battery on the second day. So they didn't order the battery as they said the first day? In short, their story on working on the phone didn't match up. Also there was no communication. If they ordered the wrong battery and gave me an estimation they should have called and explained why and the new time estimate. Not leave someone without a phone and have NO CLUE WHY. Honestly if I could rate 0 stars I would this was a sad experience, on a repair that should only...
