We did the pottery wheel and slab building class. We had a really good time and we were happy with the pieces we made. The teaching style for both instructors was great.
A major con for us was the timing. We felt extremely rushed. Clay making in my opinion should be a relaxing experience and i felt pretty stressed most of the time. I would recommend they either increase the time of the class or not do a two in one class.
Another note i would make is compared to other pottery studios I have taken 1 day classes at, they are pretty stingy with the amount of clay you can play with. I totally understand that your take home is 1-2 pieces but personally I found it restrictive that we were only given 1 fairly small piece for the slab building and 1 small ball of clay to work with. Really had to make sure you made zero mistakes. Considering clay is reusable and my experience at other studios, I didn't completely understand this policy.
That being said, i would still recommend coming here, just have an idea of what you want to make beforehand and good to know that you will only have a small piece of clay...
Read moreI would like to convey my heartfelt gratitude for the experience I had at your pottery studio this year. Unfortunately, I am leaving due to relocation, but I wanted to express my appreciation. The warm and enthusiastic welcome, coupled with the creative haven your studio provides, truly inspired me to explore my artistic abilities.
Throughout my pottery-making journey, your staff's expertise, patience, and guidance made a profound impact on my growth. The friendly and supportive environment created by your staff is truly remarkable. It fostered a welcoming space where artists of all levels could thrive, and the positive energy and camaraderie among fellow potters made each visit a joyful and enriching experience.
P.S. One suggestion I have is to improve the clarity and communication around the process of signing up or renewing classes. I sometimes felt a bit lost in navigating that aspect, and I believe it would greatly benefit others to have a clearer understanding of the process.
Once again, thank you...
Read moreI've been to the clay lounge twice- first time had a great experience so went back for a 2nd class. After 2 months, I emailed the studio checking in on our pieces (4 in total) and got no response to my initial outreach or the follow up. I then tried calling the studio, but there was no phone # available & got no response to the online chat feature of their website. I messaged on FB, finally got a response saying:
"We have you guys crossed off in our book that they made it out of the kilns but haven’t located the bag of pieces. If not, I’ll be able to deep dive further into where they may be later this weekend."
I never heard back from this, have messaged them 3x since in the past week. Of course I'm upset about the lost pieces, but I am even more upset that they're clearly avoiding me & not being straightforward.
This is such a bummer. The classes aren't cheap either. Extremely disappointed at the lack of communication...
