My fiancé (now husband!) and I held our November wedding at the SoWa Power Station and it was truly perfect. We hired AE Events as our wedding planners, and with their help and that of the wonderful SoWa Events Director, Carolyn Longden, booked the main space for our ceremony/cocktail hour/reception and the upstairs mezzanine for our after party. All of the other services booked via the SoWa for the night - bar, bathroom attendants, and security - were all top notch. The planning process with the SoWa could not have been easier and site visits were fun and inspiring. Our vendors were really able to transform the space while still complementing the building’s stunning architecture and our guests are still talking weeks on about what a magical evening it was. We wish we could visit the Power Station every day and plan to return for years to come to enjoy SoWa Power Station events and relive a bit of our perfect day. You will not regret booking your wedding or next big event with this awe-inspiring and well...
Read moreThis show is so awful I can't believe National Geographic would attach their name to it. First of all, there is not one single ancient Egyptian artifact, though the advertisements may leave you believing otherwise. The show is hokey beyond belief - the narrative is given in a mystical tone as if this were a ghostly manifestation, but the sound system is so poor that little of what's being said can be understood. It appears a fourth grader was hired to write it. It also seems designed to prevent any actual accumulation of knowledge - the videos flash by so quickly one can't even finish reading them before they are gone, though the information they impart is so utterly basic that if the subject interests you at all, you are probably already familiar with it. There is, of course, a gift shop. The trinkets on sale are of the shoddiest quality, at laughable prices, imaginable. Do yourself a large favor and spend a couple of hours at the MFA's Egyptian collection if you have any genuine interest in...
Read moreBeyond Tut could have been much better. It was not customer-friendly. Listening to the audio was very difficult because you could hear each sections’ description. The timed entry was not entirely synchronized and so we listened to the end of the audio in some sections before the beginning. It could have been better if there was a guide taking you to each section of the exhibit.
It really did not bring Tut to life. The show was somewhat boring, even for an Egypt enthusiast!
We enjoyed the Lyft rides to and from the exhibit more than the show—-thanks Shane and John for making our night...
