This is a very outdated hotel, especially considering the high price you pay and the 4 star rating. The carpet on the floor was extremely old and dirty, looks like it hasn't been cleaned in a long time. The lighting in the rooms is very poor, with individual small lamps and several were broken. The interior looks very old and dirty. There were stains on the walls, curtains, and even the bed sheets. Not every room has a refrigerator. Airco made alot of noise, so I turned it off instead. The bathroom also had several defects, with water leaking from the sink and dripping onto the floor. I had to use a towel to soak it up. The shower gel bottle was already empty before I arrived. The water from the shower faucet didn't flow completely; half of it flowed from the bathtub faucet, so I only showered at half water power. The rooms were very noisy. You could hear people talking and walking in other rooms. When someone showered or flushed the toilet, it made a tremendous noise. I had to sleep with earplugs.
It's also important to know that when you book a room through a third party, there's an additional $40 per night charged, called guest amenities fee. This fee is deducted from your credit card upon check-in and came as a surprise for me.
I don't recommend eating at their restaurant Rebel's Guild. I had the grilled top sirloin, asked for medium rare, and it was cooked all the way through; it was incredibly dry. You're better off trying other nearby restaurants.
The staff is generally friendly and helpful. I was helped by Thomas and Glen (if I'm not mistaken) during checkin and my stay. Their service was on point. However, at checkout, a woman who helped me was not at all customer-friendly. She barely looked at me, was rude, and didn't even ask how my stay was or said goodbye at the end. Maybe she knows that the hotel has many defects and did not want to be confronted with...
The only major advantage of this hotel is it's location. It's super central, close to Boston Common Park and a wide variety of restaurants. It is easily accessible by public transport and you can get to the airport in 15 minutes by taxi.
However, I wouldn't choose this hotel again because of its poor condition. For this price and a 4-star rating I would recommend anyone to look for other...
Read moreI booked a suite at The Revere Hotel through their website for a family trip during the July 4th holiday weekend. The booking process was smooth and was made about two weeks before check-in. I received confirmation and even a reminder email two days before check-in, which gave me confidence everything was in order.||Upon arriving at the hotel to check in, I was informed they had overbooked and did not have the suite I had reserved. The manager confirmed there were no suites available. The only alternative offered was a king room, which would not accommodate my family size (this is precisely why I booked a suite in the first place).||The manager provided no assistance in finding alternative accommodations, offered no compensation, and presented no solutions beyond the inadequate room option. This left my family without lodging in Boston during one of the busiest travel weekends of the year, when finding last-minute hotel rooms is both extremely difficult and expensive.||I had made restaurant reservations and tour plans based on this hotel's location, all of which were disrupted by their failure to honor a confirmed reservation. Even though I booked directly through their website rather than a third-party site, it made no difference.||The hotel's response was limited to apologies with no meaningful effort to resolve the situation they created. As out-of-town visitors, it became clear they had little incentive to make things right since we would likely never return to Boston.||This review serves as a warning to other families. This hotel overbooks and has no contingency plan to help guests when they cannot fulfill confirmed reservations. If you're traveling during busy periods or have specific room requirements, I strongly recommend booking elsewhere. I recommend having backup hotel options ready and calling to reconfirm your reservation the day before arrival.||I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, especially families or groups who need specific room...
Read moreThe hotel is nice enough, good area, but very expensive for what you get. One of our party had booked the "Premium Skyline View" room, which was even more expensive, but a balcony overlooking the city was promised. Yes, there was a balcony, tiny but there. Unfortunately, you couldn't step out on it. The sliding doors opened about four inches and that was it. "Liability issue" we were told. Be nice if they'd warned my friend before he spent all that extra money! It's Boston, so the street is noisy and very crowded. There was construction everywhere; we missed one turn, about a block from the hotel, and had to drive another 15 minutes to get back there. Worse yet, we'd specifically asked about using the pool - it's summer, after all - and were told yes of course, only to get there and discover it was "closed for the season". What season?! Do they open it for Christmas and New Year's Eve? Absurd. The rooms were clean and decently appointed, but nowhere near what you'd expect from a hotel of this caliber. Or supposedly of this caliber. And price. We went to the restaurant fairly early our first night, and the food was good, though we sat for about ten minutes before anyone could be bothered bringing menus. The staff were giggling and on their phones. I realize that makes me sound grumpy, but by the time the food finally arrived, I was! It's a good location, though. The Commons is a short walk away, there are a multitude of restaurants and shops within easy walking distance. But it's stupidly expensive for what you get. OH, and the rooms have been "modernized", sort of, but they also feature those low-wattage low-light bulbs that never provide enough light to read by, let alone shave or do makeup. The breakfast buffet wasn't much of a buffet; more what I'd expect from a Holiday Inn Express. All in all a...
