I didn’t give 5* due to the fact of not getting a huge saving by using this card.
We purchased a 3 day card & managed to visit 8 attractions including one of the premium attractions - the Duck tour. Definitely recommend the Duck tour, approx 80 mins (depends on traffic) all round main sites of Boston & very informative. Managed to queue jump at the Aquarium but we were there fairly early and the queue was not too bad. Value of the attractions we visited was $135 not including our visit to the MIT Museum as it was free on the Sunday we visited it. Cost of 3 day ticket $126 so saved $9 overall. Beware to check out attractions whether open or not etc before purchasing to get full value and definitely visit a premium attraction if purchasing a 3 or more day card. I guess to get more value out of this card you need to plan more attractions to visit & travel using the hop on/off trolley cars. Not sure if they get you to all these attractions thou! We used the 7 day Charlie card to travel which was good value, we used this a lot to travel around the city. If there for 7 days or more I think the 7 day pass would work quite well as you’ll have more time to fit in a fair number of attractions, check out hop on/off trolley bus stops & use for a couple of days ( worth $52, included on the Go card). The ‘Go Card’ app is very easy to use, you can have all the passes in your party on one phone or share so you could split up if needed. Guide & FAQ on there, check them out before visiting as some attractions require you to have tickets such as Duck tour and they direct you to location of getting these tickets. We had no issues with using the app and the attractions just scanned the QR code and off we went. There are some deals with retailers available as well using the card but we didn’t use them, mainly because we had forgotten about them. Details are...
Read moreWe bought the 3 days all-inclusive pass and made the most of it. It's definitely pricey, but if you plan ahead you can definitely maximize your savings. We used it to get into the Museum of Science (twice), Duck Boat Tour (only available on 3,5, 7 day passes because it's considered a premium site), skywalk observatory, Harvard Museum, aquarium, and all the stops on the Freedom Tour. It was great for us because we would not have paid the 5 or 6 dollars per person for the little stops along the trail that we enjoyed and it definitely would have cost us more do pay for each thing individually. Plus, the full price for admission to the aquarium and science museum were definitely expensive and you save about 30%-45% if you work out the math. We also used the pass to get 20% off some local eateries for lunch and dinner. The website makes it look like there are about 40 attractions you can use it on, and that's true, but they're not all right in Boston. Some are in Salem (about 1/2 hr away), Cambridge (20 min away), Foxwood in Ct, Sturbridge Village (60 min away), etc.....so you definitely have to plan. I printed out a map and labeled where all the attractions were so that we could hit a geographic area and do everything there. Otherwise you'd be driving all over and traffic and parking and parking prices are tough. If you're into packing in as much as you can, this is the way to go...otherwise...
Read moreWe had a very disappointing experience with the Boston go card. I really wish it had served its purpose and helped us to enjoy the city but it did not. Maybe it was because we visited Boston over the 4th of July holiday but some of our disappointment had to do with the fine print. We were unable to enjoy the trolley tour which we usually enjoy in big cities because the go Boston card was linked to the city view tour company- it was terrible. The route it took was really among all the construction and all the heavy traffic very unappealing. We also couldn't book a head of time because the weather was unpredictable and by the time we would realize that we had sunny enough whether to book a cruise the tour was completely sold out. So we spent over $115 each and the only thing we could use the go Boston card on was one City View terrible bus ride which wasn't even worth the $35 price it would have been had we not had to go Boston card. So I do not recommend purchasing and using the go Boston card. Wait until you get into town and see what your weather will be like and maybe purchase at at the first the venue you go to, don't order it from out of state and too far in advance. And read...
