I kind of stumbled upon Geoff accidentally on social media and I can’t be happier that I did. I already had some goals in mind for my health and well-being but felt lost and confused about how to reach them. In short, for me, I wanted to gain lean weight, not lose weight. I already knew I had to work out more and lift, but I never felt like I had the energy or desire to be consistent enough for real results. I also lacked the confidence needed to go to the gym on my own.
After the in-person consultation, Geoff was able to take everything I told him about my current lifestyle and eating habits, and give it back to me in a way that was organized and easy to understand. That laid the groundwork for a plan we created together to help me reach my health goals. I decided to sign up for 2 workouts per week at Janey Elite Training. On top of that, Geoff scheduled 4 other workouts per week for me to do on my own. The plan duration was for 4 months.
Geoff was my coach in every sense of the word. He made sure I understood what the workout plan consisted of, he consistently checked in with me and motivated me, and he enabled me to really pay attention to my body and how it reacted to my new regiment. Geoff ensured I was equipped with the knowledge, tools, and skills needed to succeed, especially on the days when I thought about scrapping the plan. And Janey Elite Training came with an app that tracked my progress!
Geoff really got to know my strengths and weaknesses and subsequently personalized the workouts. Read moreI have been a member of JET Boston for a couple of years and really enjoy the team of coaches and the friendly atmosphere. Last February, I started Powerhouse Pilates with Lila, and I wish I had started it sooner! I always wanted to try it but was worried that it would be too challenging for me. This wasn’t the case! Lila is an outstanding coach, who breaks down the exercises so that I can understand how to do them correctly. She is always checking in with me during the session to make sure I’m not experiencing any pain. I really like how Lila tailors the exercises to my unique physiology and will make adjustments to the exercises if things are not going smoothly. Furthermore, she really challenges me each session to push my limit; she knows when I’m cruising and will raise it a notch. I have seen such an amazing improvement in my strength and conditioning, and I really feel good about my progress and my overall health. Lila also pushed me to think more about my diet and increasing my protein intake. I used to skip the monthly InBody Assessments because I didn’t think I would make any improvements. Read moreJ.E.T. was such a transformative experience for me. I highly recommend their trainer April Davison, she’s the best trainer I’ve ever had. She knows when to push you and when you need a break; even on my worse days she helped me get through a workout and she’d be just as proud of me on those days than on my best days. I really liked April because not only did she encourage me to become healthy and fit, but she never judged me for whatever shape I was in and helped me to accept my body. She always hyped me up about the progress I was making.
I think the best part of this experience was the knowledge I gained about proper lifting form and nutrition that I had no idea about previously. The internet is full of weight-loss jargon, but J.E.T.’s programs are based in science and they were always able to clear up “myths” I’d heard about losing weight. And most of those myths were in fact myths. I will carry that knowledge with me forever.
It was such a hard journey at first, but I really saw results at the end of my time here. It really is a lifestyle if you want to lose weight so please don’t expect J.E.T. to be a miracle solution: if you’re willing to put in the time and work and commit to them then you will see results. If not, that’s on you.
