The staff was very really pleasant and friendly. I had the Power Facial and I wasn’t satisfied for a few reasons. I came in with some light scabbing on my face because my skin became inflamed after a couple of hot tub dips. I mentioned my symptoms and my facialist assumed it was Hot Tub Folliculitis. She did suggest I see a doctor but spoke with conviction while seemingly diagnosed me with the only hot tub related condition she’d heard of versus asking me relevant questions. The issue was on my t-zone, not neck down. I never even got my face wet or had raised or bumpy skin. As a person working in the health and wellness industry, it’s important to know that if you’re not a doctor, you don’t freak your clients out by diagnosing pathologies. My skin was likely overly dry and cracked from the contrast of the cold and heat and, like I mentioned, I couldn’t stop rubbing my face because of the itch in the middle of the night which caused it to become raw and scab over.
My skin was healed by the time of this appointment and she said she’d try to remove some of the very light scabbing. By the end of it, most of the scabbing was still there. I also had most of the black heads in my nose that I came in with. After the fact she said she noticed I was wincing during the extractions so she wanted to stop. I wish she’d asked me if I wanted her to stop. It’s not going to be pleasant and part of my reason for being there was to remove impurities. She did say my skin was dry so that didn’t help but I wish a face steamer had been used like I’ve experienced at other places. Instead, a significant portion of the facial was a neck and shoulder massage which was actually quite painful as she went over the same spots abruptly and repetitively. The next day I had some new knots in my neck which undid the $200 massage I had a few days prior. The muscles and fascia will do that when the tissues take on too much too soon. The next day I was also able to easily remove the remaining scabs (these were the most surface level, barely there scabs) with a few gentle passes of a cotton cleansing pad with some toner on it.
I could just see another facialist but I do really enjoy having my face steamed and much more diligence on the skin care versus massage from a person who is not a licensed massage therapist. I can see why others...

Alex at the front desk is always so warm and kind. It makes my day every time, just to walk in and be greeted by him!
Katherine has this magical ability to transform my skin and my whole energy inside and out while putting me at ease and making me feel comfortable. She is so super knowledgeable, offering thoughtful answers to all my (many) questions. And even catching things in my skin that I missed and putting me on to helpful advice tailored to me personally and in context of the current season and my lifestyle activities (recent travel, sun exposure, my current skincare routine).
Katherine offered me info that prevented for me (what I would imagine to be) potentially, a lot of future frustration otherwise, being able to identify something that turned out not to be acne on my face. I am beyond grateful for her insight and support and for providing me with clarity where I really needed it.
Skoah skin klinik is my safe haven and I recommend it to anyone hoping to do something kind for themselves. Your whole being will thank you for it. (Giving them 5 stars, but I...
Read moreI found Skoah in my search for a Boston spa that could get me restarted on my skin care maintenance journey. My Google search mostly came back with spas that offered facials in the $200-$300 range, but I found this place which offered facials at just $85. With such a low cost, I couldn't help but give it a try. The place is located in the beautiful south end, and I could see myself making a self care day around this facial.
The facial takes place downstairs, below ground level, which makes it really private and quiet. The tables are also contoured and heated (!) which makes it sooo easy to get comfortable. I had my facial done my Katherine, who is the reason I signed up for a membership. She is so knowledgable and patient and did the most thorough extractions which is what I really wanted. Skoah doesn't use steam, but I still feel like she got everything out. I also loved all the products she used and am considering buying a few depending on how my next facials go. There was 0 pressure to buy anything which is rare to say in Boston.
If you're thinking about going here, check out the products and facials online. The other reviews also...
