I'm give it a 5..after only eating the Italian nachos..here's why,.. October 10 is my Bday, my son and I had made plans to meet up for food and cocktails..he picked Anchovies. So I arrived a bit late, and finally sat down..he had ordered me a Manhattan, which was waiting for me, along with a sidecar of the remaing elixir..it was yummy on a chilling evening. He had a lager. After a bit of chat and perusing the menu, I asked what he was ordering, he replied, "I ordered the Italian Nachos for an app" (mmmmmmm).. the platter arrived and we dug into it..we actuality had a chip tussle over the remainders on the plate..they're That good..so I asked for a sip of his lager and he obliged..this is were it gets weird.. So I taste it, and it reminded me of bubble gum..and it fruity. So I ask my son what it's called..can't remember the full name but it's "Punch Lager"(?).. brewed by Dorchester Brewing..ok sooo anything with "Punch" in the name is a massive Red Flag for me..so I ask my son if the menu lists ingredients..he shakes his head NO..he then asks our waiter if he knows..again No..but he looks it up..and It's got Pineapple as an ingredient..I am Anaphylaxis toward Pineapples.. Waiter asks if I'm allergic to it, I nod yes and we're off and running..my son heads for the door the waiter helps me with my coat..and asks if I need an ambulance I nod yes..and he helps me to the door and my waiting son. Needless to say my son and I are anxious to have the ambulance arrive..in the meantime a waitress asked if I wanted some water and a chair..I say yes thanks..she brings me both, thankfully.. the manager comes out to tell the ambulance is on the way..I thank him..and so time drags slowly by..till I hear sirens..many sirens!.. 1st to show are BFD..2 trucks with red lights flashing, next is BPD, blue lights ablaze, then an EMT Blazer with white lights. And finally the ambulance with red and white lights strobbing.. In short I may have been in trouble, but the patrons of Anchovies got a Light Show..I got to spend 4.5 hour in the Tufts ER.. In short not a great way to spend your Bday.. I'd like to Thank the staff of Anchovies for their help in preventing a disaster.. they were Awesome and helpful in a difficult situation..I will be back to finish my Bday celebration, again, thanks...

I came to Anchovies last night for their famous dirty martinis with a few other friends of mine. We had reservations at Giacomos and the table wasn't quite ready yet so we decided to start our night at Anchovies. The place was packed and we were so excited to start our evening there.
The bartender asked what we wanted and we all had said hot and dirties. The bartender's response "OH OK. I'll be back in an hour". We all chuckled but she was ticked we had ordered five? She then asked if Titos was ok and I said "I would prefer Kettle One"...her response "You're really gonna make me make five different types of martinis"...quickly my friend said "No its fine - all kettle one!!"...she looked at us like we were the BIGGEST INCONVENIENCE and I quickly sensed an attitude. I said "Is this a problem? It is my birthday and we are paying you for a service". She quickly said "You know what guys, this place isn't for you. Go somewhere else". She had long brown hair and tattoos. I understand the bar was busy. The sad part is that we would have stayed because we genuinely came for the martinis.
As someone with a customer service background and sales person, she either needs to relax with a dirty martini herself or maybe she cannot handle the amount of people that were at the bar. I'm not sure if the owner needs to have an additional bartender on or if this is a recurring issue. We weren't tourists that came in at 11:30pm hammered looking for pub food. We all have lived in the city for five years and just genuinely wanted a dope martini. I will come back to this place and I won't give it one star but I wouldn't be mad if someone from the Anchovies personally reached out to me to gain more information and perhaps let me know that the bartender was spoken to about...
Read moreSunday night 9/2.. after a Pearl Jam show, was just trying to find a place to get some food after 10pm. (it's impossible in Boston to find a place to eat on a Sunday night..) Finally came across this place, heard kitchen was open unil 130am. I walked in ordered food no problem (pizza and a grilled cheese) , paid at the bar no problems...then the waiting started. OK, it's a bit busy...I get it, it may take a bit longer than normal. Then I see people who came in AFTER me get their food, so I ask the bartender if she "knew if my food would be coming soon"...she said "once it's ready it will be up on the bar.." ...no problem. 10 minutes goes by...and I ask her again..."maybe you can find out if my food is coming soon.." (granted I've been trying to find a place to get some food for the last hour or so..) This bartender (a woman with brown hair and tattoos) gives me an attitude, even after I paid AND tipped for the food....as if I'm in the wrong asking if my food is coming out after waiting a pretty damn long time. I even said to her that "I'm a patron, I'm not trying to argue with you...I'm asking you a question about food that I already paid for..." I get she was busy pouring drinks, but come on already. Customer service 101 clearly wasn't this woman's forte...The worst. All in all, food was pretty good and the woman who took my order was very nice. Only problem was the bartender with...
