This place rocks! It has that special touch that Guitar Center just doesn't have.
A few examples: -I called about a particular set of strings for my 5 string bass and they special ordered them for me. Came in about 3 days, I paid for a restring and the tech also polished my guitar body, oiled my fret board, and adjusted the action on my B string for free! I used to have trouble keeping that string in tune but it's so much more accurate now. -I called about a particular cable to connect my guitar to my audio interface. They held one for me at the counter and when I arrived, asked further use case questions so they could determine if I needed a mono or stereo cable. I was up and recording that same night with no further issues. -I lost both the washer and the nut to the audio jack on my bass. I brought my bass in and the guys here replaced it for me free of charge.
Everyone here is so helpful and knowledgable. If the above is the level of expertise and customer service I can expect, there's no need for me to go anywhere else. Highly...
Read moreI dropped my Epiphone les Paul off to be set up after sitting in my brother's house for 2 years. I dropped this thing off a month ago. I came all the way here from Dorchester because I didn't trust guitar center. The only thing I thank this place for doing is cleaning the corrosion off the frets and pick ups. The only thing it seems they did was reslot the nut. I knew something was wrong. My action is ridiculous, it's 3mm. This isn't an acoustic guitar. I'm just happy my guitar is back in my hands than these people. Highly recommend going somewhere else or doing it yourself. I trusted these people. This isn't cool. I'm right back to where I started. I came in with the guitar and they kept making comments about how high the action is. I'm calling tomorrow and getting my money back. I'm so confused because on the slip they gave me they state the neck is adjusted along with the action. They didn't do shit. The neck is still the same along with the action. Nice try guys you will be getting a call from me in...
Read moreIf you are looking for a guitar store that employs people that are friendly, helpful and know what they're talking about, look no further. I moved to Boston in 1981 and lived in Allston. I stumbled upon this place when I was discovering my new neighborhood. I didn't know how lucky I was at that moment, but I came to realize that the best guitar store in Boston was right down the street. The prices and variety of the goods available are superb, and if it is possible to buy something from a local guy instead of you know who (GC), I do. I very very rarely have to the resort to The Dark Side (GC) - - as the selection of products at Mr. Music is truly impressive. Since the economies of scale are not available to Mr. Music as they are to GC, (They can't buy 1,000 Stratocasters at once, thus receive quantity discounts) it is dumbfounding how they keep their prices so competitive. Become a customer for life, like me, and go to Mr. Music at 128 Harvard Avenue in Allston. You won't regret...
