We Done Hair Salon — Local services in Boston

This was my first (and definitely last) time getting a haircut at this salon, and unfortunately, it was one of the worst experiences I’ve had. While the hair wash and blow dry were excellent, and the staff were generally friendly and gentle, the actual haircut was shockingly rushed and unprofessional.

I paid $56 (pre-tip) for a women’s haircut, and the stylist spent no more than 2–3 minutes cutting my hair in total. He initially cut for less than a minute before abruptly walking away and handing me off to another person for a blow dry—which, confusingly, usually comes after the haircut. He was gone for quite a while (in hindsight, likely attending to a higher-paying client), and when he finally returned, he was clearly rushing to finish.

He made a few quick snips, then immediately asked if I wanted essential oil applied…again, implying the haircut was done. I declined and asked to check my hair first. I requested that it be shortened slightly and that the front be cut more symmetrically, he did so in under a minute. That was the entirety of my $56 haircut.

To make matters worse, I noticed his fingernails were very long and visibly dirty while he was working near my face, which was unhygienic and honestly repulsive. I ended up washing my hair again as soon as I got home.

To be fair, there seem to be competent stylists here. My friend had a much better experience with a different one. But if you’re coming in for a simple haircut and not a high-value service like hair dyeing, there’s a clear risk of being treated as an afterthought. I can’t say enough good things about We Done Hair salon! I’ve been itching to dye my hair a specific light orangey-ginger color for the longest time, and wanted to do so without too much bleach or compromising the integrity of my hair, since I have pretty wavy hair that I’ve been working a long time to grow out.

The stylists here (unfortunately I don’t know their names off the top of my head) really took their time to look at the reference photos I provided and make sure they were getting the correct shade for the hair that I wanted. I loved the results so much and felt like a new person afterward.

They really took their time in making sure the color was evenly distributed, and the best part is even after wearing my hair naturally wavy, it hasn’t been fried to bits and my hair still maintains its natural curl. I appreciate their care, hospitality, and can’t wait to come back in the future. I wholeheartedly recommend this salon for those looking for stylists who specialize either male or female asian hair.
