TLDR - if someone didnāt know about manuka honey and tried to make Mead from a book in a foreign language they didnāt understand while absolutely nailing product packaging design.
The place is laid out with a lot of space but itās very expensive for the produce they are selling. Staff are vaguely helpful but not really talkative and wander off to look after other tills instead of helping. The honey in glass wine bottles like a dessert wine or balsamic vinegar is a nice touch but ridiculously overpriced as itās not even manuka.
The mead is nicely presented and they have a funky can design as well. Unfortunately it is all design led and no attention has been paid to the mead itself. I did the 26usd tasting of six premium meads and was incredibly disappointed with each of them. A 1 star effort across the board apart from the Tart Cherry which would score 2 stars. Itās a shame really, as the time taken to craft a good mead and produce something enjoyable surely canāt be much more for the makers than producing the sorry excuse for a product theyāve done.
Maybe itās just different tastebuds between Europeans and Americans but youād be better served by finding the cheapest roughest alcohol you can and adding some yellow food colouring and wafting a spoonful of honey in its general vicinity before...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCame here with my family, we are familiar with the brand but had never been to an actual store before. We were excited to stop in, however, while greeted by two friendly staff members⦠no one even tried to engaged with us. They stood behind their counter never once offering any help or assistance. Noticed another customer come in after us asking about something and they rudely told him no, then proceeded to point at the direction of a product he maybe interested in, never once offering to show him where to go. As someone who works in retail that was painful to watch. When we walked up to the counter with the array of honeys it seemed as though it was only after they noticed we were buying something were we talked to about possibly trying the honey. I noticed there were drums of local honey but honestly i didnāt even want to spend any more money at that point. Overall, it was a sad time and no wonder it was so empty when we went in. Unappealing overall, which is sad because i do really love the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreA place that only sells -- honey. A novel concept and one that intrigued me. So I stopped in and was quite amazed at the variety of honey they had for sale. Of course I had to sample all of the brands they had to offer, (you do have to be well informed before making a decision) and finally settled on their Black Sage Honey. It is the perfect topping for hot or cold cereal, sweeten your coffee or tea, or just put it on some bread with butter. The salesperson was very knowledgeable about the various brands if honey they had to offer, and I had a lot of questions which he answered, and helped me make a decision on what type to buy.
