Despite warnings I received from my general contractor and others, I still used Home Depot because they had a good sale on Andersen Windows and Appliances (Black Friday). However, it is not worth it. A window came damaged and they did replace it but it was a major hassle, both for the schedule of our remodel and also in dealing with Home Depot. We also bought a whole houseful of appliances, which turned out even worse. Apparently there is only a 2 day window after delivery in which Home Depot feels they are responsible for helping replace or fix an appliance that was damaged from the factory (they never expressed this to us, but say it is somewhere in the fine print of our receipt). Yes, it took us significantly longer than their 2-day window to take it out of the box and install it, but it still has most of the protective wrap, etc. on it. We have never used it and we did not damage it. After multiple phone calls including to the store manager, they say they will not help and we need to contact the manufacturer. The manufacturer says it is Home Depot's responsibility. Do not make any major purchase from this store! It is not worth it!

I found a great deal on Traeger pellets so I grabbed 8 bags. At checkout the bulk price would not ring up. The clerk tried to assist. After about 15min they contacted the manager. The manager refused to give bulk price due to the product already being discounted. I brought up that my father had just bought some in Washington at the bulk price. The representative told me it was up to the stores discretion on pricing and they will not be honoring the tag.

I cannot fathom how this store is still in business. I have spent tens of thousands of dollars annually at this location and I have never had so much hatred for a company based on years of terrible experiences. I have bit the bullet and continued to shop as my Pro account tracks all my business purchases and I can locate them all in one place but I’m done. I will NEVER spend another dollar at Home Depot and am moving all purchases to Lowe’s. Lowe’s is a breath of fresh air after dealing with Home Depot for so long.

The employee incompetence and outright disdain for customers is outrageous. They will literally walk away when they see customers approaching. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve witnessed this. The few times I have had a quick question, they’ve given me wrong info. Clearly (and after reading other’s reviews confirming this there is little to no employee training). It reminds me of the Ron Swanson quote ā€œI know more than youā€ while at the hardware store because you usually have to end up telling them where something is located. I will say the ONE thing they have going for them is Jeremy. Give that guy a raise.

Not only that, it is extremely frustrating how many times the website has said an item is in stock only to drive (from out of town) to show up and it’s not. There’s no point in trying to call to confirm before making the trek because I’ve never had an employee answer the phone. I don’t even try to contact them for any reason any more.

Business 101 states don’t block customers from purchasing items (i.e. don’t close aisles with customers in them to restock, ESPECIALLY during the busiest times), nor block all your products with boxes in the aisle so that your customers can’t reach them. Literally every time I’m in the store both of these issues occur. It is beyond frustrating to be in the middle of loading lumber or heavy materials and an employee tells you to leave the aisle because they are going to close it down to restock.

The employee at the return desk is so blatantly rude and offensive I refuse to interact with him and will come back another day when he is not working. Seriously? Why are you working in customer service when you clearly hate customers and your job?

I purchased kitchen cabinets and installation a few years ago and I can’t tell you how many issues there were not only with the purchasing process but the measurements and install. To this day, I still have issues with them but I won’t even bother trying to get Home Depot to make this right.

Obviously the employees are rude and refuse to help and they are to be held accountable but clearly management dictates morale and this is a top down issue.

Inventory issues, rude (or non-existent) customer service, inability to purchase items because whole aisles are closed or blocked, inability to contact anyone via phone, and a whole laundry list of other issues I’ve experienced over the years are inexcusable.

Unfortunately, this review won’t matter because this Home Depot literally and blatantly just does not care. I’ve talked to numerous Bozeman residents who have all had bad experiences as well. They don’t care about their employee’s morale or training, their customers, or the success of this store. Please don’t continue to support this type of business when there are so many...

When I purchased some accessories for a new Ridgid shop vac on line, Home Depot offered to deliver them immediately at no additional charge. Sounded good! However, the car that delivered the purcase left a trail of motor oil the length of the driveway and a pool of oil where it stopped to deliver the item. When I contacted Home Depot about the damage, the manager blamed their contractor, Roadie, but she did file an insurance claim. A week later, a different manager confirmed the filing of the claim and said that he would get back to me with an update on when someone would fix the problem. I never heard from him. I week later, I spoke to a third manager. He gave me the claim number and told me to contact the insurance company myself. I am not a customer of the insurance company, so obviously they were not going to respond. Nevertheless, I spent 15 minutes on hold before someone came on the line to take my contact information with the assurance that someone would be in touch within 24 hours. That was two weeks ago. Needless to say, I never heard from them. Home Depot is responsible for the damage to my driveway so obviously they should fix it. Nevertheless, they are evidently going to stick me with the project and the expense. Their dereliction is disgraceful.

Update: I followed the link provided by Home Depot below with the promise that "We would love to assist with finding a resolution". The "assistance" that they offered was to tell me to call the insurance company myself. Anyone who actually reads my account above will know that I already contacted the insurance company two weeks ago to no avail. Once again, Home Depot has refused to do anything to fix the damage that they caused.

Update (4 May 2025): Yesterday marked 2 months since a Home Depot delivery vehicle damaged our driveway. In that time, Home Depot has done absolutely nothing to address the damage. They ascribe all remedial power to their insurance company, and the insurance company stonewalls. I am now preparing to have the damage repaired at my own expense. It appears that my only hope for justice in this case will be legal action.

Update (3 June 2025): Home Depot finally paid for the damage they caused to our driveway. It took 87 days and a threat to file a complaint with the Montana Office of...

I recently made two large purchases with the Bozeman Home Depot, huge mistake! I ordered window shades and a washer/dryer back in September and dealing with Home Depot has been persistently frustrating for a variety of reasons and I still don't have a dryer. Home Depot has terrible communication channels with its suppliers and third party installation folks. If there are any issues with an order, guaranteed you will spend hours on the phone trying to sort things out. I will never purchase anything here again, luckily Lowes is right across the street.

For anyone who cares about the specifics:

Window shades: Placing the order for the windows shades was a hassle. I was told I needed to have someone measure our windows and place the order in person at the Bozeman store, only to be sent away to place the order myself online. After I made this original order and received confirmation it was unexpectedly canceled. The cancellation was not communicated to me at all, I only found out by calling to check the delivery status the day before the shades should have arrived. I spent hours on the phone with both the Bozeman store and Home Depot's customer service to get things sorted out and even more time reordering online.

Washer/dryer: The original delivery for these was in October which was delayed to a date mid November. The dryer arrived damaged and a replacement will be delivered in December, maybe. Replacing the damaged dryer also took hours on the phone with both the Bozeman Home depot, the dryer manufacturer, and Home Depot's customer service line. We were finally able to get something to happen by going to the store in person. The customer service employee we worked with at the store was the only person who has ever called us back in this entire process, she's cool.

TLDR: Home Depot sucks, save yourself the trouble and make large purchases at a...
