What an insane experience. I received a 25% flash sale coupon, and needed some filler art for the dining room. There is a blue textile art piece that fit the spot at World Market. After checking online to see that they had it (1 remaining in Bozeman, the site promised), we went to pick it up. Bizarrely, when checking out, the cashier said she needed to check to see if they "had more". This is a piece of art in a bin among many others up front, with no indicator that it is a "display piece" (this is not museum art, we're talking $150 here). Turns out, this one is the only one remaining (which is fine, as that is also what the website said and encouraged us to "pickup today"). She therefore... couldn't sell it to us? We asked to speak to an assistant manager. Who was remarkably rude and explained she "didn't sell her displays" and "I wouldn't sell that furniture over there". Again, fine, because we don't want furniture... we want this cheap piece of art. She told us that if she sold it, how could she sell it to someone else, and did we check online? Yes, yes, we did, which is why we are now in your store. How are you ever going to sell it to anyone, if you're not willing to part with it? There were no apologies and in fact she seemed baffled that we would expect to be able to purchase art. (Although we've done this in no fewer than five other World Markets without issue.) We had a similar issue in this store trying to purchase a lamp, which we found odd, but relented... and did try to order it online, but the order was cancelled. I think this may just be a dud of a World Market, but they can count our...
Read moreI usually like this place and the options. I appreciate the online shopping option and usually get an extra % off for shopping online then picking up. However, the latest transaction did not go well. The email and text that told me the order was ready for pickup said to call ahead of picking up. I called and advised I would be there in less than 5 minutes as I was only 2 blocks away. The person on phone was rude and insisted I call back on arrival. I asked if coming inside to pickup the order would be easier. She only said maybe, but there are many people in line. I arrived 2 minutes later and did go in. No one was in line, yet the cashier could not get my order from the online order rack 5 feet away, she had to call 2 different people. Neither person could locate my order. Finally a third person came up front and got my order. I assume it was the person on phone as she was rude and short with me stating they had been working 80 hrs in past week. I suggested they change their instructions if they did not want people calling ahead to state they were on their way to get their online orders. I waited an excessive amount of time to finally get my order (not even in it's entirety). No impressed with World Market at beginning of holiday...
Read moreToday, my wife and I stopped into World Market in Bozeman. We have shopped in World Market in Florida in several locations. We enjoy shopping in these stores. I must say that today was the first bad experience we have ever had. We had selected many items from this store which included two bottles of Belgium beer. When we went up to the register to pay there were several people behind us and we were conversing with them while we were in line. I stepped up to place the items on the counter and I noticed that as I was placing them on the counter instead of scanning them and bagging them she was restocking them to the side. Once she had everything in a separate pile she began to ring them up. When she got to the beer she said she needed to see our id's so I pulled mine out, which I am 67 and my wife is 67. She said she needed both our id's. My wife had not brought her purse so she stated she couldn't sell us the beer. It was I federal law. In all the times we have been in the same situation in stores located in Florida we were never asked for both our id's. Never have I been as embarrassed. I will never set foot in that World...
