For many years I've Loved going to Michaels and having my 40% off coupon to buy something with. Of course, I always ended up buying much more than I had planned on so that 40% off one item really helped me- not to mention all the extra money Michael's made off me! Lol. I'm sure that's why they did it. I was bummed enough when I discovered that post– covid the discount has dropped to 20% but when I got to the register recently and my phone was acting up and would not pull up my 20% off coupon, the cashier was no help at all. Does anyone else remember when the Michael's cashiers were friendly and had a copy of the coupon by the register so if you forgot yours, they would just scan it and get you your discount on an item? Well apparently those days are gone, too. I asked the cashier if she had the coupon handy and she said no- they were not allowed to have them at the register anymore. I was baffled and asked, "why not" to which she replied, "the manager doesn't want us to." Wow. So, clearly the days when Michael's was an artist/crafter–friendly store are gone now, like everywhere else. And, of course, their prices have gone up significantly- like everywhere else. So yes, the store is usually clean and organized, but the "crafter-friendly" feeling is gone. Now they're just another store to me. They just sell stuff at the higher prices like everyone else, don't care about the customer and don't really do anything to encourage customer retention. Thus the three star rating. Three stars is average. Unfortunately, so is...
Read moreWatch the prices, they might be wrong and if they're too much of a difference they wont honor them. I had a 50% off coupon that expired today so I went in to get a marker set that I eyed last week for 40$. Its not out on display though, it's a card that hangs on a hanger to represent the product and the cashier will have to get it and bring it to the register. So she brought it up and I'm expecting it to ring io at 40$. She rings it up at $300. I explained it was 40$ where I pulled it off. She spoke to the manager and they said it was too big of a difference to honor. So I went to the back and met the manager back there and she verified there were multiple of those cards on there and in the wrong location. But she couldnt ho or the price. She said best she could do was 50% and I explained I already had a 50% coupon I wanted to use but wasnt expecting to pay $150 today. A lot of other places no matter the price difference honor the price, it's their mistake not mine. I had been in there 2 times previously and they were in the same spot for weeks. I was expecting to come home and use them today, but I guess not today. You cant go in there expecting anything I guess is the lesson, your expectations can burst at the...
Read moreSTOP TRAUMATIZING YOUR CUSTOMERS!!!! Stopped here to look at garland. Ended up purchasing two rolls of vinyl and a ball of yarn. Checked out at the new self checkouts because the employees were out wandering around. There is no signage anywhere to stop at register nor a magnetic pad available at self checkout. Walking through the door, the vinyl set off the LOUDEST door alarm I have ever encountered, which scared the ever living crap out of me and triggered a panic attack. I have PTSD and am not happy to have had it triggered by yet another stupid store that has both self checkouts AND security tags. DON’T HAVE SELF CHECKOUTS IF YOU ALSO HAVE HIDDEN SECURITY DEVICES ON THE ITEMS MAKING IT NECESSARY TO HAVE AN EMPLOYEE CHECK YOU OUT. At the very least, put signage up directing folks to go to regular registers with labeled items. If you want people to shop in brick and mortar stores, don’t make the experience TERRIBLE. If I hadn’t been having trouble breathing from the anxiety I would have thrown the items at an employee and asked for refund. I won’t be shopping here again. Have some respect for your customers and realize some of us are dealing with...
