Walked in for lunch and was greeted by an empty and cluttered entrance, no host/hostess. After standing there for a bit I saw a tiny little sign amongst the clutter that said "we don't have a hostess, please seat yourself". Ok, we will go sit at the bar because there's obviously a skeleton staff. We sit down and the bartender was busy but she greeted us and took orders. She definitely did her best and this review is no shade on her.
I like to wash my hands before I eat so I went into the bathroom and what do ya know? No soap. They're about an hour into opening and there's no soap? There was an employee in there going to the bathroom, he had to walk out and ask someone where the soap is and this lady tells him it is in the shed. Took the dude about 5 minutes to come back with soap and, when he opened the unit, there wasn't even an empty soap bottle in the dispenser, there was nothing. Someone opened it up and took that soap out then decided not to walk to wherever this shed is to replace it.
I think the woman he asked was a manager because she was in a tiny little office next to the bathroom, with the door open, and she was attending to an employee. It must've been the hostess getting fired or dismissed because they aren't busy enough because this poor girl looked like she was holding back tears and walked out of the restaurant. This couldve been someone that could've filled soap and cleaned the restaurant.
This restaurant was filthy. Every elevated surface was covered in dust, including some weird tube sitting above all the drink glasses. The yard beer disoensers or whatever they are called looked sticky and nasty with fingerprints all over them. Not ordering kne of those! There was clutter all over the back bar area. Tools that looked like they've been collecting grime and dust forever, and sinks that could use some CLR and TLC.
I watched the bartender scoop foam out of beer as she kept trying to fill them which tells me wither the lines are dirty and havent been taken care of or he beer isn't cold enough. I'm guessing both.
Pizza was ok, individual tavern style meat me, though I wouldve liked it if the dough was cooked through and not partially raw. We got the brownie for dessert and it was literally half chocolate syrup. If I wanted to eat a mouthful if chocolate syrup I'd go to the grocery store and buy a bottle to squirt in my mouth. I'd say I would do that next time to save some money but there is no way I want to eat or drink anything here again.
Either the employees are lazy and the manager isn't enforcing policies, the manager is lazy, or this restaurant doesn't get enough hours to train. One thing is for sure, this Old Chicago is devoid of any leadership and obviously has an owner that is...
Read moreUgh. We were so excited to go here for dinner. We arrived at 3:55PM hoping to beat the dinner rush on a Sunday. We put our names down and she said 20-30 minutes. at 4:37PM we received a text saying our table was ready. We sat down and waited about 10 minutes for our server to come over. She took our drink orders and came back with them about ten minutes later. We already had plenty of time to decide what we wanted but she just sat the drinks down and walked away. Came back a few minutes later and took our order. We had a promotion card for a free pizza up to $25 dollars that we bought from a kid selling these for his baseball team. I handed her the card while telling her what we wanted to prevent any issues at the end (like it not being accepted, etc.) While waiting for our food (1 large pizza) we went through about 3 drinks each. I ordered strawberry lemonade and was totally unaware they were not free refills. The glass was about 90% ice, so I went through them pretty fast. Didn't think I'd ever drink 10 dollars worth of lemonade (3.29 each) in one sitting. Anyway, our food came out 45 minutes later (no plates or silverware) waited a few more minutes for that. I thought their thing was they serve the first slice? They set the super hot pizza down right in front of my 2 year olds high chair and walked away. After we were done we started looking around for our waitress needing the check and a box. She brought the box and went to get the check. 15-20 minutes later came back with the check, it was wrong. Charged me full price for the pizza, even after I gave her the pizza coupon and I was really surprised over the lemonade thing. I wouldn't have ordered them if I knew they'd be that expensive. Took her a good ten more minutes to bring the new check back, and then a few more to take my card and bring it back. Kids were irritated and wanted to go. My big pregnant belly could hardly fit in between the two tables we were crammed against. Had to ask the other people if they could scoot their table over a bit so i could get out to use the bathroom. Awkward The pizza was pretty good for what it's worth, but the super slow service was a huge turn off. I get that they are new and still trying to figure things out. Our bill was still over 40 bucks JUST for drinks (Husband had 3 beers and two kids drinks) plus a tip. We will probably be sticking with Dion's next time for pizza. We...
Read moreI'm making this post in reference to our second visit to this location. My wife and I just moved to Brighton. This particular night visiting Old Chicago did not go well. The place was very busy. The hostesses informed us that the wait would be 15min, which was cool with us. We then gave her my phone number to inform me when our table would be ready. The wife and I then sat at the bar waiting. The bartender was the first to bring recognition to us about our wait. This was at lease 45 minutes later. My wife and i didn't want to jump to conclusions, thinking were being passed over. That maybe alot of these people being seated were outside waiting in their cars. After a while of continuously seeing couples seated before ourselves, I then decided that I would go follow up with the hostess and ask had she forgotten about us. She let me know we would be next up to be seated. So I went back to the bar waiting. I also began pay more attention to the hostesses action. Since we had been waiting so long we decided to order a drink an an appetizer until we were notified that our Table was ready (even though it was tons of empty tables available that I also saw the hostess cleaning table an allowing them to remain empty) I watch 4 other couples come into the restaurant from outside and be seated before us. Eventually my wife decided to ask the young lady was there a reason why we havent been sitted and the young lady then said she would sit us and came back with menus and skipped over tons of tables in the middle of the restuarant placing us in the far left corner of the resturant away from everybody, we also pixked up on a very nasty attitude from her. As if we were bothering her asking her when we would be sitted after we had already been at the resturant for over an hour. So my wife and I decided to leave. By the way my wife and I were the only black people in the restaurant. We left and enjoyed a meal at Texas Roadhouse where we were welcomed with open arms and was treated with respect. We will never give Old Chicago Pizza our business again. It's really unfortunate because the first time we went there we enjoyed to food, the waiter, and...
