I’ve always had positive experiences at Hobby Lobby—kind staff, helpful service, and a welcoming atmosphere. But this particular location was the complete opposite. My visit on Monday, September 1, 2025, between 11:00 and 11:40 AM was genuinely disappointing—not only because of a lack of help, but because of the downright rude and dismissive attitudes of several employees.
First, a male employee in the back section gave us vague directions—pointing us in the completely wrong direction with no effort to guide us or clarify where to go. It was clear he put more focus on whatever he was tasked with.
Then I approached another employee to ask a simple question, and she cut me off mid-sentence with, “No, sorry, I’m not clocked in,” and just walked away. No attempt to redirect me to someone else, no “please give me a moment to clock in,” instead. Just cold and completely uninterested. A basic level of professionalism would’ve gone a long way here—but instead, I was met with an attitude that said, “Not my problem.”
Next, in the fabric aisle, another woman responded to my question with the same lack of energy and interest. She vaguely waved in a general direction, and said, “I think it’s over there.” At this point, it felt like a pattern—no one wanted to be helpful, and they didn’t even pretend to try. Honestly, the attitude from some of these employees came off as snobby and annoyed, like customers were inconveniencing them just by being there.
As we approached checkout, I saw a cashier opening a new register and so I walked up to her behind another gentleman, so did many people... as you do when a new line opens up. When I politely asked to confirm that her lane was opening, she said yes—but then oddly gestured toward another employee saying she would direct me to a line. It made zero sense. People were already lining up at her register freely, so the logic—or lack thereof—was baffling. The tone again was indifference and cold. I did not take her statement seriously and I stayed in the line with my one single item. To make matters worse, I was reminded that Hobby Lobby still doesn’t accept Apple Pay—just one more outdated inconvenience to top off a bad experience.
By the end of the visit, the constant lack of courtesy, helpfulness, or even the basic decency to fake a single smile or hello was enough for us to walk out without buying anything. It honestly felt like most of the staff didn’t want to be there and didn’t care who noticed.
This location felt like a complete departure from the Hobby Lobby brand I’m used to. Maybe this is just the tone of the Brownsville/ Valley area, but that’s no excuse for poor customer service. This store seriously needs to retrain its team or bring in people who actually want to...
Read moreFirst you could not find anyone to help you. Then the signs put up for sale items were not always in the right area, and then cashier had no clue what was on sale. It was a Sunday, only 2 cashiers, and very busy. After waiting in a long line, getting to a cashier that could not examine what was and was not on sale, having a manager get involved that was rude and could care less about customer service or his store. Offered to show him where I picked up the merchandise, and show him the sign. He declined! And basically called me and 2 other people liars. I will not return here! We took our merchandise to the Harlingen store, explained what had happened, and the clerk, not a manager apologized and checked our receipt with sale signs in her store. She sern the confusion and we...

Most of the employees are at the front of the store if you need help. Ok...here is my latest experience. Just like a lot of people during this pandemic quarantine, I learn a new hobby... screen printing. Well, I go to my local Hobby Lobby to buy plain t-shirts...and other gadgets. I guess it's the Cricut fans or the market!! They been short of plain Large and XL black t shirts for most of the time. Other than that...I'm happy there's more business opening...
