I have traveled all domestic (49 states) and International (type of work I do). Been waiting for this place to open for months (was scheduled for 10/15). My reviews are fair/honest and not comparing to places I've been. Service began at entrance with the host, seated within 1 min (arrived at 12:30 pm). was attended by server like he was just waiting for us (was VERY quick). Observing the other servers at there tables, the bar etc I can see they where very attentive to there tables, friendly, good welcoming vibe. Atmosphere: From Carrabba's Italian Grill to Palenque Grill what a Major Make-over, was very impressed of the inside. Very warm feeling, clean (it's a new place, so of course), the design of the wall, the furniture etc was very elegant. A place you definitely wanna impress someone. Food: Chips/salsa/beans was awesomely delicious (be careful, just might get full with that meal alone). Water is filtered very well, lemonade is good and refreshing. 1) 2 1/2 stars for the G-Panchos (known as nachos) meat was tender, chips are good, guacamole good/fresh, beans was actually good, was shorted on cheese (the plate was round, was not the picture on menu, plate on menu was oval, so seems it was a pile of nachos mountain pile). 2) 4 stars G-Green Enchiladas, beans rice good, chicken was tender and plenty of it, the souse was good, but was limited, meaning not enough sauce so might need to ask for extra when ordering it. 3) 2 1/2 stars G-Tilapia WAY WAY to much cheese on top of the tilapia, felt the fish wasn't cooked enough, slight slim to cook. rice was good, the grill shrimp was cooled down so when we got the place was cold. Final word: would I visit this place again, yes, would I order the same plate (nachos/tilapia: nope green enchiladas maybe). Price is high so expect a bill (worth it, depends on what you ordered). Once you order your food, expect a long wait. clean restrooms, good music and a beautiful TV that changes images.

Pretty underwhelming, to be honest. There’s nothing special about the food — you can find the same kind of dishes on just about any corner in the city. If you’re looking for good service and don’t want to wait 30 minutes for a slice of cake that should already be prepared, I’d skip this place. It might be because they just opened, but the staff seemed really disorganized. They got our order wrong, though we didn’t bother sending it back. Our waitress asked what we ordered three different times, and even though there were plenty of servers around, it was surprisingly hard to get her attention. We had ordered three slices of cake, and after waiting half an hour, we finally had to ask them to cancel it since we needed to leave. Definitely not the best first impression.

We had an excellent experience at Palenque Grill Brownsville. From the moment we walked in, the staff made a great impression, friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. They even held the doors for us on the way in, which you don’t see very often anymore. The restaurant itself was spotless, with a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. Everyone on the team looked sharp, professional, and clearly took pride in their work.

The food was absolutely perfect, fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. Every dish came out hot and beautifully presented. You could tell there’s real care that goes into both the kitchen and the service side.

What really stood out was the personal touch. The manager, or possibly the owner, stopped by our table just to check in and make sure everything was to our liking. That level of attentiveness and pride in customer experience is rare these days, and it really made a difference.

We’re business travelers and eat out often, and this visit genuinely impressed us. Excellent service, outstanding food, and a team that clearly values their guests. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in town , highly recommend Palenque Grill to anyone looking for quality food and exceptional...

Went for an early Birthday dinner to avoid crowd. Arrived with very few dinning. Meat was served after 30 minutes still bleeding (returned meat) corn tortillas cold and hard in warmer(returned) Rice bland taste. Large avocado peels in guacamole. Cheese on top of chile relleno was not creamy or stretchy because it was cold at this point I was tired of returning food. The atmosphere felt like chaos and unorganized. It was a Birthday celebration, desert was not available that was on the menu. Waiter promised another desert that after 15 minutes waiting, it never arrived because it was given to another table. Original desert that wasn’t available suddenly was found somewhere 20 minutes later when we just wanted to pay and leave. Very disappointed nothing like the one in McAllen. They knew it was a Birthday and the employees never came to join in and sing. I guess that has changed also. Spent $$$$ for a bad Birthday experience. Won’t return to this...
