This is my favorite game store in town. They may not have the largest selection of comics, and the store does look kinda seedy from the outside, but they make up for those with oodles of charm, a knowledgeable staff, and good prices. If you're looking for something specific then the cheapest place to find it will likely be the internet. This is the place to go if you've got $40 burning a hole in your pocket and your not sure what you're looking for yet. I find myself making excuses to stop by and browse for a while. Also if you're into tabletop RPGs this is the only store in town that acts like they care about your hobby at all. The sweet lady at the front counter lets you open all of the dice and "feel how they roll." Out of their competition: Clockwork smells like sweaty nerd and doesn't give a F about you as a customer if you don't play magic/CCGs. Lytle's is somewhat better but you have to get over the rough impression that the owner gives. Their focus is mostly in miniature based wargames like Warhammer 40K, and new/unopened comics. She's very strict about not letting you preview comic books or graphic novels before you buy. Oddly enough, Hastings is the other good place to go for RPGs and general nerdary. It's always a impersonal big-box type of experience but they normally have a great selection and they run sales that get close to competing with Internet prices. Overall, if your looking for a genuine mom and pop nerd store with a great atmosphere and friendly people, BCS Books and Comics is the...
Read moreAtmosphere: Be careful not to miss it since it's tucked behind some trees. Although it looks like a house, the inside is where it shines, when entering, the amount of comics/DnD/posters consume the inside of the establishment. It has a quite a bit for everyone and has a vast selection.
Customer Service/Knowledge: Dagmar is extremely helpful and does her best to keep with the latest comics. She has mentioned that she also tries to keep up with series that many of her customers follow.
Product/Service: From the latest comic, previous issues, as well as various graphic novels and books. What I did appreciate was the fact that if there was a certain comic you were looking for especially if its upcoming. She will try her best to obtain it for you.
Fili's Fave: I really appreciate Dagmar going above and beyond to help the customer obtain the comic they are looking for. She has mentioned as long as it has been a couple of months, that it may be possible to obtain a...
Read moreOk. From the outside, you're probably gonna look at this place sideways. Just trust me. You wanna go in here. They have up to date stuff, table for magic or D&D, source books from the newest things are some older stuff that's still rad you forgot about. They have comics, most of the newest games, and brace yourself. BRACE YOURSELF. They have an IMPRESSIVE collection of anime on DVD. Old and new. This is a must-stop-and-buy-something for any true nerds coming through Bryan. Yes it's small and cramped but it's got heart and history. I can't wait to be back in town to look through the whole collection.
Bonus: the owner is from Germany! You a nerd with some German connections? Come...
