I had the worst possible experience and it shows why Gamestop is going out of business and deserves to be. Ever since the major console shortage has happened in 2020, it has been difficult to get electronics and scalpers have been doing terrible things to desperate customers. Gamestop is officially a scalper. They force you into their membership, which is admittedly dirt cheap, but also has no use at all for a modern gamer that doesn't buy used items or trade in items, just to be able to buy a product that is hard to find at the moment. They are doing the exact same thing that the scalpers are and I would rather use the money for the membership for toilet paper then let them get away with such a terrible business practice that rips off customers, especially when some likely can't afford that markup. On top of that, I called to see if they had one of the item I am looking for in stock after having stopped in a few days before and being told they were on their way. Both when I stopped in the store and when I called to see if they had shown up, it was never mentioned to me. I drove about 25 minutes and 15 miles out of my way to go get one just to find out that they are trying to force me to buy their subscription which has an auto renew and is incredibly easy to forget because it is yearly and they want you stuck with it forever. This is one of the most predatory and obnoxious things I've ever seen from a "legitimate" business and it shows why Gamestop should/will end up going out of business. I just feel terrible for the employees at the local level who have to enforce these insanely ignorant policies and are going to lose their jobs as they shut down stores.
I had always gone out of my way to buy things from Gamestop, even since I started buying my games digital, but I will never even consider purchasing from one ever again and will actively make sure as many people as I can possibly find stop going there. I would rather wait 2 weeks for shipping than support this ignorant, rip off of a...
Read moreI've always had amazing service as far as customer service. However for the most part I don't shop there for anything anymore. They have plenty of stuff and all of its in good condition but it's nothing that I can't get online or through the game consoles themselves. I love the business but they don't do alot to build a community or make their store stand out. They've become more of a collectors store than a game store. If you are looking for hard copies or nicknacs for games look no further. There apparel is also decent quality so they have that all and all its a good store I just don't have a use for it and I can see alot of gamers feeling the same...
Read morei would have given zero stars if able. i went to buy a light up mouse pad, opened the box and the lights were broken, it’s brand new. i went to return it not 24 hours later, with the box, receipt, and everything that came with it. when i went to return it the first thing they asked is if i had opened the box. they said i could not return it because i had opened the box. how am i supposed to judge the product based off of the box it was it. this is a ridiculous rule that they have and it should be changed. especially when it was already broken when...
