The Leather Bench — Local services in Camden

HORRIBLE PEOPLE. I went into this store with my family. My 4 year old daughter was handing me a hat to try on and the store clerk came over, took it out of her hands and snapped at her and said “this is not for children”. I had a bag that I was going to purchase and my husband was going to purchase a jacket however we left. As I left, I told the man that we were going to buy the goods but I would never buy from a business that treated my child in such a manner. The man then said that I was “not an attentive parent” and that my daughter was “dragging the beautiful hat around in the floor.” He said, “ don’t get me wrong, your daughter is beautiful but you are not being attentive”. I walked away fuming and amazed that this man would insult a customer in such a way. *For the record, my daughter was not dragging it around on the floor. She and the men that I was with ( who were also being attentive)...

My two daughters and I stopped by today at the shop and as I was looking around I heard the store employee tell them "This ain't Walmart stuff so put it down". That sounded a bit odd to be, but I let it slide. About a minute later the employee told my 11 year old daughter "why don't you put these items down and get the hell out of this shop" as she was checking out a small leather bracelet. I was shocked, I mean absolutely stunned and shocked when I heard him talking to my kid like this. Talking to my 7 and 11 year old daughterse like this is beyond rude and unprofessional. Either ask the parents to keep an eye on the kid or have a little bit of manor when asking them not to touch something.

My family and I went in here. I wrote a review in Yelp about our very terrible experience. In summary, the townies that hang out there are racist, and the employees don't seem to object to it. We summer in Camden every year, and we will never return to this store. Camden is a lovely and friendly town in our experience. Please reference Yelp for our more detailed review on leather bench. I dont feel safe bringing my wife and children to this store, and to the young man employed there who thought the townie's racist comments were funny, its only funny in your little world. Expand yourselves, leather bench and staff. This is not over by a long shot WRONG persons wife to disparage. Not over by...
