Final update 10/7/2023 -- because of the continuous issues documented below, I began my search for an alternate café. Now, I have found that place. But before I go, I am pleased that Bagel Café has many customers who enjoy the place and don't mind the tick-carrying dogs and the Mexican music because most of the people who work there are dependable (you'll see the same, pleasant faces day after day) hard-working and courteous and that's a big plus in today's world. Although I wish things had worked out differently (I'm a long-time customer) I wish them well. UPDATE 10/02/23 -- It's a shame that the owner(s) of Bagel Café don't read the reviews. Anyway, now there's a new twist! They blare Mexican band music with all the lyrics in Spanish. So, if you want to visit a bagel café that seems more like a taco shop in Tijuana, you're in luck! What's going on with this place ?! UPDATE - 10/01/2023 There were 2 dogs here within my first 10 minutes of being here. KEEP TICK CARRYING DOGS OUT OF HERE! (another dog just came in here. Is this a dog park, or what?!!!) UPDATE - 9/5/2023 Today there were 2 dogs inside the café during my visit. I'm sorry to say that they'll be losing a loyal customer if this doesn't change. I hope they place a sign that says, "NO PETS ALLOWED." Easy. UPDATE - 9/3/23 Today, there were 3 fullsize dogs in the cafe at the same time. One even barked. Please, Bagel Cafe, get rid of the dogs (and their selfish owners) from your café! Dogs can carry disease and ticks and have NO place inside a café! Thank you!
--- UPDATE -- Patrons are bringing in their pet dogs now on a regular basis. It's not unusual for two dogs to be inside the cafe at the same time. I'm sure the dog owners luv that. But since dogs carry fleas and lyme-transmitting ticks, allowing dogs into the cafe is a very bad idea. GET RID OF THE DOGS, PLEASE! They don't belong in restaurants!
I am a long time customer who travels past other eateries to come here. But due to this dog situation, I'm going to start dining elsewhere much to my chagrin. Dogs don't belong in restaurants.
If, or when, the Bagel Cafe posts that pet dogs need to remain outside the cafe I'll happily return. I sure hope they do that but I'm not optimistic. The staff here are really what makes this place hummm. They prepare your order the way you want it and are so pleasant, yet efficient, about it. There are plenty of tables and no shortage of elbow room. The clientele are never irritable, either. Personally, I travel a distance to enjoy a morning treat here. I bet you'll...
Read moreI’ve worked here and can understand where some of the negative reviews are coming from because the wait can be long, but some of the complaints don’t make sense to me. When there is the morning and early afternoon rush the orders pile up, the wait can be longer than you want and it can be stressful behind the counter. I always call in if I’m in a rush because I know they will answer. I’ll tell them how far away I am, and they will make sure it’s almost ready if not ready for me when I get there! The bagels are suited for most needs whether it be their udi’s gluten free bagel or the rest of the bagels that are vegan, but you’d never know. They have a dozen+ different bagel flavors and so many cream cheese flavors. They even make vegan toffuti cream cheese that tastes close to normal cream cheese in two different flavors. A woman that ordered toffuti cream cheese asked if we had made a mistake and given her regular cream cheese, but it was no mistake and she was amazed by how close they tasted. The prices range from very cheep to a little expensive, but it all depends on what you get! A bagel by itself with nothing on it is only 0.92 cents and no sales tax on the bagel. A whole bakers dozen (13) is $9.25! That’s. Deal because 0.92 cents x 13 = 11.96 and the day old bagels are still good @ $3.99 a bag for 8 bagels! Yes there may be small mishaps, but no one is perfect, it is a great place to get a quick bagel or breakfast and by far the best one I’ve ever been to! Also when they are back there making sandwiches, wraps, salads, making and refilling the coffee, changing out and refilling containers of veggies, meats and cream cheeses, and cleaning tables for new customers, it is best for the customer to not say anything and to thank them for what they made for you as fast as they can! If you come in and see they are busy don’t expect your sandwich to come out willy nilly. They get up at 5:30-6 almost everyday to make food and serve over 100 - 200 customers every day. Ask the daily customers their opinion about the place and see how the first impression isn’t...
Read moreI have been a long time lover of the bagel cafe... I am not a big fan of what they have become since moving. Firstly, The staff I enteracted with was very kind, nice, and delightful. Unfortunatly that was overshadowed by the rest of my visit this morning.
I got my bagels this morning like I've done so many times in years past. But this morning I was sad to find out that my bagel which I ordered with habenero cream cheese and bacon came out with plain cream cheese and tomato. I unfortunatly did not realize until I was home. And there is no way im braving downtown a second time to rectify this unfortunate mistake.
My other disappointment was the amount of cream cheese. I am so use to the generous serving that use to grace your bagel, only to be sadly displayed with what im calling "essence of cream cheese".
My other problem is unfortunately not one that can be rectified. The space they are in is simply too small. While waiting for your to go order, you are forced to stand in someones way. Either next to the coffee other patrons need to get to, in front of the drink cooler, bathroom or right next to someones table as they try to enjoy their food. It's frustrating to have to constantly shuffle around the store moving out of the way whilst waiting.
I'm sad to say I don't think I'll be visiting...
