Such A Great Idea
One Good Woman has been a successful off-main-street boutique tea shop in Camp Hill, PA, for quite a few years. Now they are in the glass and metal, poured concrete floor Neighbors and Smith nouveau-strip-mall on Market Street with more bourgie gifts and twee self-help gift books than ever before. I am particularly impressed by their offering of Shurpaca home and apparel Alpaca wool products. As an information card displayed alongside the goods says: "By purchasing Shupaca products, you are supporting talented artisans and their revered craft and culture, vibrant South American communities, and the local businesses carving out space to carry these special products." No green and black Certified Fair Trade emblems to be seen in the info. But the card presents a vibe of environmental, animal, and human gentleness. With their earth-tones and unadorned patterns, the throws, beanies, gloves, wrist-warmers, and scarves are genuinely lovely, impeccably crafted, and pretty pricey. Here's hoping the Camp Hill gentry recognizes Shupaca's understated beauty and are willing to spread the wealth. Here's hoping, even harder, that the humans making this wearable woolen art are getting the lions share of the profits and that the creatures who provide the wool are royally treated.
A Few Good Things About My Trip to One Good Woman: the young man who asked me if I was comfortable, needed anything, and, best of all, moved the harsh little Bluetooth speaker disturbing the peace with supermarket music. the pleasant lady at the counter who, at my request, found a ceramic mug instead of a paper cup in which to brew my Scottish Breakfast tea. Good WiFi connectivity.
A Few Less-than-Good Things About My Trip to One Good Woman: sitting at the counter, hemmed in by three Christmas trees, a packaged gift box, and a biggish oblong flower arrangement. To his credit, the young man offered to move some of these but who wants to be that P.I.T. A. zero wall sockets. Again, the solicitous young man offered to move a couple of Christmas trees and lend me an extension cord. Ever biddable, I declined special treatment.
A Few Good Suggestions to Make One Good Woman an Even Better Woman: Set your radio dial to 88.5 WXPN, and don't move it. Either that or dare to be silent. Sockets. About six under the counter. Four if that's the best you can do. Ceramic mugs de ri·gueur, not bespoke Keep the counter lady smiling. Keep the One Good Young man onhand. This morning, he was the one best thing One Good Woman had...
Read moreMy fiancee and I were very excited when we found this place but after experiencing awful customer service, we will not return again. I asked my fiancee to pick up a charcoal face bar for me that I had seen in there during our first visit. He went and picked it up today but it turned out to be a scrub, which does not work on my sensitive skin. Not even a half an hour later he was back in the store to return it and the woman said the return wasn't working he had to use store credit. Being the thoughtful man he is, he didn't fuss and picked me out a pair of earrings. Next the lady says he can't return it because it was a personal care product. He kindly explained that he just bought it not even 30 minutes ago, it was still in the box, and was still sealed, it was simply not what I was looking for. Then the woman started getting very rude and went as far as to tell him he could have used a needle to inject something into it, literally the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. I can order skincare products online and return them at any time as long as they are still sealed. We are bummed because we were excited to have a coffee place so close but will find elsewhere to give...

I have yet to find any place even outside of PA that impresses me as much as there coffee. The taste is just so good. Snickerdoodle, chocolate truffle, chocolate raspberry, pumpkin spice, .. are just 4 of many flavors I've fallen in love with these last few months. The selection they have for both coffee & tea is absolutely INCREDIBLE. Starbucks & Dunkin has NOTHING on these ladies and who wouldnt rather give there hard earned money to a small business vs corporate america? :) just saying.... Besides the amazing coffee and tea, they have the CUTEST gifts, snacks, books, & cards that you arent going to find at your typical hallmark, Michael's, ect.
