La Colonia International Supermarket — Local services in Camp Springs

Please check your damn fish 🐟🐟🐟! If ya'll hate your jobs just say that and quit...

I have been to this grocery less than 5 times. Unfortunately, based on the experience I had last time I am not returning nor recommending this grocery store to anyone.

It is Latinx owned and operated. The cashier staff are somewhat friendly, although most just stare. When I was passing by to check the seafood in the back I didn't get a greeting/acknowledgement. You are in a Black county in a mixed neighborhood of folks, greet your customer base!

🗣️ This last second time I visited, I WAS soooo excited for my fish HEADS. It's legit what I wanted when I arrived. I was excited to buy them after I struggled looking for them in the side seafood section. I bought a natural juice in a glass container as well, it was fine. I also bought cane sugar which was also good. When I arrived home 🏡, I checked 1 out of 3 of the salmon fish heads and there WAS dead real red WORM in one of them (I didn't check the other 2 yet, I just placed them straight in the freezer.) (Pictures below.) I was shocked, screaming scared, and running to the trash 🗑️!!! Two days later, I emptied the trash because it was starting to reek. Never again will I purchase raw food, including any fruits, vegetables, or meat to be on the safe side from La Colonia.

I now can't bring myself to buy fish heads PERIOD after shopping there and this experience. Sure you can't beat the prices but why risk it?! I don't want to buy them at another grocery store to buy them either. I'll stick to fish fillets, cut. Trust, if your fish isn't gutted and healthy DON'T eat it.

To top it ALL off, I got a fish bone stuck in my throat for two days....

Great selections, prices are here and there. Customer service 2 outta 10. I asked 3 people to help me 2 spanish women that spoke English but didn't speak English...lmao I just showed them a picture with the name of what I wanted Guanabana aka Soursop and they acted like they don't know what I meant and 1 acted like she didnt want to be bothered and she doesnt understand me even though she responded to me in English. That's what THEY call it and they sell it in every single international Market that I've been too...lol thankfully a nice man stocking the shelves helped me he even walked with me to get the price...walked back with me. Excellent! You have all the goodies to prepare any ethnicity meal! I love the vegetables, there are so many and very fresh. The manager is friendly. Everything is well stocked and its worth the drive. You have a wonderful fresh seafood department with great prices for the value. Today the cashier said I could get a free soda, so I got one for my daughter's office. How kind and what wonderful customer relations. This is a child's dream, more candy, chips, cakes and International Goodies than you can imagine! I always find exactly what I need and much of what I want.
